Giorgi Mamardashvili is edging closer to joining Liverpool. The Premier League giants have submitted a second offer for the 23-year-old goalkeeper, and the fee comes much closer to the asking price set by Valencia owner, Peter Lim.
It’s expected that an agreement will be reached in the coming weeks. However, Mamardashvili would not join Liverpool with immediate effect, as the idea is for him to arrive in 2025 – likely once Alisson Becker has departed, thus opening up the starting spot at Anfield.
It had been reported that Mamardashvili would join AFC Bournemouth on loan for the remainder of the season, thus gaining him Premier League experience before joining Liverpool. However, Geo Team (via Relevo) have reported that the Georgian stopper has rejected this option, as he’d prefer to remain at Valencia for one more year.
Liverpool would have no objections, and obviously, Valencia would not either. It means that they would be able to keep their world-class ‘keeper until next summer, thus improving their chances of finishing higher up the standings in La Liga.
