Wolves flop Goncalo Guedes is on the brink of signing for Benfica on loan just five months after he moved to Molineux for nearly £30million.
The Portuguese forward arrived last summer in a £27.5m deal after an impressive spell at Valencia but the transfer has simply not worked out, with the 26-year-old scoring only twice in 18 appearances.
He will join Benfica for the rest of the campaign on a straight loan, as the writing was on the wall when Wolves brought in Pablo Sarabia from Paris St Germain earlier this week.
Sarabia's arrival pushed Guedes further down the pecking order in the fight for places in attack, with Daniel Podence, Adama Traore and Hwang Hee-chan also competing for spots out wide, and Pedro Neto working his way back to full fitness.
Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui is desperate to improve his squad this window with the club heavily involved in a relegation battle. They have already added Sarabia and midfielder Mario Lemina, as well as forward Matheus Cunha on loan from Atletico Madrid.
They remain keen to sign a right-back, a centre-back and a centre-forward and if another striker arrives, then Wolves would listen to offers for Raul Jimenez.
