Leon Goretska made no effort to avoid rubbing salt in the wounds of Lionel Messi and Barcelona following Bayern Munich's historic Champions League victory on Friday night.
The Bundesliga giants tore Barca apart in the most humiliating fashion, pulling off an 8-2 victory to inflict the greatest ever European defeat on the Catalans.
And, after the match, reporters were keen to ask whether Messi had been Goretska's football idol growing up, and whether it was difficult to see him subjected to such lows.
The Germany midfielder however was in a straight-talking mood, and could only think of the remarkable success of his team's efforts.
Producing an immediate reply, Goretska simply said: 'No, it didn't hurt, it was fun actually.'
Messi appeared inconsolable at the final whistle, and walked from the pitch in Lisbon alone.
It is the third consecutive season in which Barca have suffered global humiliation on the Champions League stage.
In 2018 the club were eliminated by Roma, despite holding a 4-1 aggregate lead. They conceded three goals in the return fixture to be dumped out at the quarter finals stage.
A year later, in 2019, Barca took a 3-0 winning margin to Anfield, only to be turned over 4-0 by Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool who were without star duo Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
As for Messi, speculation is now rife concerning whether he will sensationally quit Barca, with his contract due to expire next summer.
The living legend has been heavily linked with a return to his native Argentina to see out his career, while Italian giants Inter Milan have also been touted as a possible destination.
Manager Quique Setien is expected to be sacked in the coming hours, as the Spanish giants set about picking themselves from one of the lowest moments in the club's storied history.

Even La massia won't lose 8 -2... albeit the players were poor the coach doesn't have plan B at all...Bayern used the wings so just ask semedo and alba to stay...what was suarez ,vidal and roberto and busqet doing on that pitch for that long time? Sub them for the younger players...

That attitude is not healthy kid. Need to learn about victory and defeats in life kid. As a sportsman every dog has its day..respect is heavier than criticism. But if you insist on yours, we will see you face your waterloo too sometime later in life and I will encourage others to rub salt in your wound. So just grow up kid, not physically, which you already have as you look almost 40ties now, but mentally I mean and spiritually too, whereby you will cope up to live in the world of pleasures as well as sufferings.

it probably means that next year is going to be worse. The team is already suffering from old age and now this board is selling younger players for older ones.
