The 17-year-old has scored in both of his first two starts for the Old Trafford outfit, but a former great is wary of mismanaging such a raw talent
Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole has asserted that academy graduate Mason Greenwood's finishing is so good that it's "a joke", but is hopeful that the club's current lack of striking options will not see too much pressure heaped on the young centre-forward.
“He's got a chance, he has got a chance,” Cole said on BBC Radio 5 Live when asked if Greenwood has the quality to succeed long-term at the Theatre of Dreams. “His finishing is a joke. Left or right foot, he's got quality in abundance.
“I just hope they don't – which Manchester United won't do anyway – that they don't put too much undue pressure on him. He's got great ability. They (Man Utd) are looking at it and saying 'We've got Mason, we're going to give Marcus [Rashford] the opportunity to play centre-forward.
“The disappointing thing is he's going to have to get thrown into the deep end a little bit earlier than they would have liked. [That's] due to injuries and due to them being prepared to allow [Romelu] Lukaku and [Alexis] Sanchez go.
“Ideally it would have been nice if they bought themselves another centre-forward.”

Greenwood was never known for his scoring ability and especially finishing in youth teams. It was always his weakness.
His finishing was reputed as the best at United in general lol.

ED Woodward and the Glazers have just released statement that they are not expecting title bid until 2022 . I did understand why they are saying that and paying lot of money to old players . They gave example of Liverpool . We should invest on young talent and have the best under 18 team . I have following them they few outstanding players.

AGREE WITH YOU COLE BUT LOOK AT THE TEAM NOW THERE'S NO FORWARD SO THERE IS ALWAYS PRESSURE ON GREENWOOD UNTIL RASHFORD AND MARTIAL RETURNS

We have left ourselves very short in both midfield and up front, but Ole is trying to change the culture and players attitudes to work for the jersey. There still poor attitude from some and lack of respect for the club and fans and maybe an understanding of what it means to play for Manchester United. The three summer purchases appear to have this, l really think we only need a strong holding midfielder to work with McTominay and a creative one, get rid of Pogba, Matic and probably Mata. Think Martial, Rashford Greenwood etc will keep improving they're still all young, for the front positions. Don't expect much in January, as Ed 002 mentioned its hard to do any good business, but l do expect some big players in the summer.

yea , in a way he's right. putting pressure on him at this young age can cause him to lose confidence even by the smallest blunder. he's lucky he's scoring. otherwise he might end up being criticised and the coach being criticised when actually he is only 17. this is no time for big pressure or scrutiny. it's still his learning time. rashford is facing same problem. he's also in learning process of " how to be a complete striker or centre foward."..... he still hasn't learned fully ( even though he's played so many games) because he spends most of his time as a winger. very few people are as skillful as martial that give them a position and bang they are good at it. hats off to martial for being such a good no. 9 after spending so much time on the wing. rashford should do more in training with solskjaer to teach him since solskjaer was such a brilliant striker. anyways trust in solskjaer. give him time and he will make man utd a better team. but at the moment he's not got the correct players hence not the correct formation. pogba is good in attacking role but suddenly decides to switch off . I don't know but let's give solskjaer time. GGMU
you couldn't have said it any better mate , agree with you 100%

It doesn't even seem to be correct. Greenwood got 3 goals in the PL in the 19/20 season, Greenwood has 2 goals, 1 in Europa, 1 in the EFL Cup

Greenwood has been fantastic this season, his "natural ability" looked like its fading because he played a different position

Greenwood was bad while many other players were also underperforming. And then he was injured for a major part of the season.

I think the thing is Greenwood still looks the same level since he broke out while sterling got better.

If You Are Good Enough.., Doesn't Matter How Old You Are. Pressure Is Something That Goes Along With The Game, You Must Know How To Handle It Yourself. (Wayne Rooney Started Playing First Team Football For Everton At 16.., Joined United At 18. If There Are So Many Good Examples.., There Will Be Equally As Many Bad Examples Too. Choose Your Path Wisely).
