A bombshell document obtained by The Guardian reveals that Gianni Infantino plotted to collaborate with the breakaway European Super League, with some even proposing to name it the "FIFA Super League."
In April 2021, the 20-team league plan, aimed at disrupting the landscape of club football, was first announced to the public.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur all joined this closed league.
The plan would have created a new competition with 15 permanent members, including co-founders Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Internazionale, Milan and Juventus, plus five qualifying spots.
However, due to the strong backlash from excluded teams, football governing bodies, and global fans, the Super League plan ultimately collapsed and was suspended.
At the time, FIFA President Infantino told attendees at the UEFA Congress that his organization condemned the new league proposal.
He stated: "At FIFA, we can only strongly disapprove of the creation of a Super League. It is a closed league, a breakaway from existing institutions, leagues, associations, UEFA and FIFA, outside the system."
"There is no doubt that FIFA opposes this."
However, according to The Guardian, the newly exposed documents show that he was actually deeply involved in this breakaway attempt.
The report states that the term sheet, dated October 2020, which is typically a preliminary document before a final formal contract is signed, suggests that the new league could be named using the FIFA brand.
The Guardian also reported that FIFA was willing to temporarily set aside the opinions of member associations when pushing for changes to the international match calendar and bypassing national football associations to advance the Club World Cup plan.
The Club World Cup was originally set to be held annually and directly linked to the new Super League.
The Guardian claims that these damning documents also show that FIFA was referred to as "WO1," a term used in the British army for a high-ranking officer.
The report explains that the term sheet stated that the Super League "can negotiate to name the competition WO1 SL."
The document also stipulated that FIFA would "acquire a priority stake in the Super League," thereby ensuring its decision-making power over format and schedule changes, appointment of the CEO, and distribution of funds.
This bizarre revelation comes a week after Infantino's plan to sell off stakes in the World Cup was made public.
The angry backlash from continental confederations, national football associations, and even many within FIFA itself forced the Swiss to quickly backtrack, and he is now desperately trying to cling to power after a week of disgrace.
He is currently in Rabat, Morocco, where he has been holding urgent crisis meetings with top FIFA officials.
Infantino has apologized, but said he will continue to fight as the head of world football.

I have maintained for years that FIFA operates as an organized crime entity, akin to a "mafia." Suddenly Jordan FA received the payment they were owed by FIFA after their president publicly criticized Infantino on social media. Infantino must go.

Perez brought the super league idea but when FIFA and UEFA realized they won't be in control of the tournament and manipulate the profits made from it, they manipulated people to condemn and protest against it that they're using players to make money and they're adding more games to the already congested match roster, now UEFA has expanded its tournaments, UCL, UEL, UCF into league phase type just like Perez suggested. FIFA too brought club world cup as well as planning to expand the matches to 64 teams. Recently I read that Messi is already back playing for Miami, which means he didn't even rest up to one month before joining again. Players are not robots
