Pep Guardiola has "incredible trust" in his misfiring Manchester City superstars, as he backed the Premier League champions to rediscover their form.
City slipped to a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa on Saturday, as their dismal run continued.
They have now lost nine of their last 12 games in all competitions.
For the first time under Guardiola, City are winless in five consecutive Premier League away games (D1 L4), last failing to win more consecutive such matches in December 2015 (six) under Manuel Pellegrini.
But Guardiola, who was dealt a blow earlier this week when centre-back Ruben Dias went down injured, has not lost faith in a squad that has achieved so much.
"It depends on us," said Guardiola, as reported by BBC Sport. "The solution is [to] bring the players back [from injury].
"We have just one central defender fit, that is difficult.
"We are going to try in the next game, [for] another opportunity and we don't think much further than that.
"We are conceding the goals we haven't conceded in the past, we [don't] score the goals we score in the past. Football is not just one reason. There are a lot of little factors.
"Last season we won the Premier League, but we came here [Villa Park] and lost. We have to think positively and I have incredible trust in the guys.
"Some of them have incredible pride and desire to do it. We have to find a way, step by step, sooner or later to find a way back."
City's latest defeat left them sixth, nine points behind league leaders Liverpool, who have two games in hand.
Their previous nine defeats in all competitions prior to this terrible run came across a run of 112 games, while only in 2019-20 (12) and 2016-17 (10) has a Guardiola side lost more matches in a single season (nine in 2024-25).

please, don't even bother comparing Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho again. It's now clear One is just a system coach with a pséudo philosophy, while the other is the ultimate tactician. Pep's just eating off on the gravy train started by Frank Rijkaard, and those those shády deals his club made with Negreira. He inherited a treble-winning Bayern Munich and Let Real Madrid embarrass them 5-0 in the Champions League. Then took an already an oiled machine from Mancini, spent a casual 1.7 billion of oil money just to win one UCL. Mourinho took average teams like Porto and Inter Milan to UCL glory. He gave Chelsea their first Premier League title, ended Manchester United's five-year trophy drought, and gifted Roma their first silverware in 14 years. If they swapped careers.. Mourinho would probably have 7 UCL trophies by now, and Pep would be struggling in the third division in Bosnia Herzegovina.

Man City started the season pretty well until injuries started knocking in, City will bounce back soon, we trust Pep. with the level of injuries City have and with little squad numbers it's hard to succeed

poor defending..Gvardols the weak link in the defence. 2 good centre backs and 1 midfielder in January trs window required for City to be in Europe next season..
the actual problem is Gundoan and bernado in midfeild bro

Guardiola must leave Man City for the team to rediscover themselves. A new manager or coach is required to revamp the team. Just put a new technical set-up in place to arrest the decline. But Guardiola must go first before trust could return. He's an autocratic drawback. 👎👎👎🚩🚩🚩🥺🥺🥺🥺
really what team you support sir??

City’s main problem is they sold the players to escape from 115 Charges,,,they sold Alvarez,,Palmer,Jusus,,Zechenko,,Sterling,,all of them are their attacking player only to adjust Their Balance sheet,,which shows that they break the FFP rules,,
total nonsense!! 🤣

Pep I am not a coach neither have I ever been but common knowledge tells me that you need to change something the team keeps feeding the ball down the left and right channels and then cannot find Haaland because this style has become too predictable
exactly Pep applying the wrong medicine for a cure to the City's ailment..can't believe he is so stubborn and rigid to new ideas..Gosh!!

You are dull in your analysis. How can they escape an already pronounced charge by selling players lately?

City lose most by counter attack. they control game infront their opponent. but fail to score goal as their opponent tidy up their defense. So, Pep must change his tactic into defense and counter attack.
