Manchester City will consider signing a new midfielder next month if Kalvin Phillips leaves the Etihad.
The England international is expected to quit the club in January, having made just two Premier League starts since joining from Leeds for Β£42million last year. City boss Pep Guardiola admitted earlier this month he cannot see Phillips forcing his way into the side and the 28-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs.
And if Phillips does leave, Guardiola has revealed City could dip into the transfer market and sign a replacement. "Kalvin is a player with us, I don't want to anticipate absolutely anything," he said when asked for an update on Phillips' future. "Everyone knows the situation he has. It depends if it happens. If it happens we talk. The market in January is not easy⦠We still have incredible things to play for, and after we decide.
"Right now I don't have anything in my mind. It depends if they leave or don't leave. Some players stay, some players leave. It depends on the squad, it depends on young players and if you can rely on them or not in some moments." City are set to host Crystal Palace later today, with the defending champions currently sitting four points behind league leaders Liverpool having picked up just one win in their last five games.
However, Guardiola remains confident in his side's title credentials. "In the last 12 games, we lost one," he added. "It's not bad. It's quite decent. We are used to a lot of games. It's different when you have a bad season, a bad season and don't win. Sometimes they say it's better not to win one season but the next one you will be better. Sometimes when you win, win, win, you know exactly what you have to do. You have the smell. You have the feeling.
"We know exactly what we have to do. How you have to behave. It also helps. If you win titles there can be the tendency to say 'okay' and believe you are something you are not, you go down. And the other point, I have the feeling that winning helps. Okay I know exactly what I have to do. How difficult it was. They know how difficult it was to win all the titles and they know exactly the standards we demand from ourselves to still be there because the teams in this country are getting better."

The money manager. Pep has access to unlimited funds to buy players. He is going to bin a $45m player and buy another one. Not many clubs can afford to do that.

He will have been more successful If he had stayed in city. look at Foden Now I wonder if he will ever win PL or play in CL again.
who was playing at foden position before he start playing,,there's a difference,,,what's the purpose of having a medal π , if you didn't earn it π€..he wants to play in order to win, not to sit and watch other players winning medals for him π

How much man utd bought Van Da Beek? is he playing? what about Chukuemeka in Chelsea, what about Party and Eleny in Arsenal? are these players playing regularly in their respective clubs. But ur concern is only on Philips because u are looking for a slightest change to spread ur hatred and ignorance against Pep Guardiola.
May God bless you you see these people they all think they can Pep down lol jealousy will kill them because they are only making pep more popular.

Fly away Kalvin and soar. Pep was selfish when he bought you. He didn't want any other club to benefit from your talent knowing you would never be in his starting lineup. Well on the flip side, you won the treble without a sweat.ππͺπΎπͺπΎπͺπΎ
Are u even for real? You compare flops to someone who's made just 2 appearances for a big money move? Pls we are not talking about regular and irregular players. Philips is not even an irregular player for City. Why then the splash of cash on something that you now want to sell to get another?

Who is Palmer? what did he achieve after leaving city beside scoring penalties and languishing in 12 position in the table?

He's brainer than u. What can, according to you who claims to be smart, buy a player for 42millions, then put him on the bench without any justifiable explanation? You compare the likes of Sterling, Zinchenko, Mahrez who all have had successful seasons to someone who was bought as contingency plan to them? U ok?

Sometimes I wonder the kind of brain u people get. Pep let go of Palmer, Mahrez, Sterling, Zinchencko, Sancho and many others. But u are now saying Pep only bought him so that other clubs could not have him. Which country are u from?

At least, the thing is he has achieved that he has written his name in the historical treble, He played rarely I agree
Written what and which name he was just at the club when they won the treble simple but don't say he wrote his name where and what did he do

Kalvin Philips made a silly decision there was no way he was going to bench Rodri the best DM right now. A number of teams were in line to sign him but he chose one where he had no assurance of playing
