With Manchester City on the cusp of the Premier League title, and a Champions League final, coach Pep Guardiola has pointed out that the secret to their success is the players.
Since taking over Manchester City, Guardiola has won the Premier League twice, four EFL Cups and the FA Cup once, though as yet European glory has eluded him at the Etihad.
"The only reason is the quality of the players that we have," Guardiola told the press, "that can understand what we are looking for and change some ideas immediately becasue they are intelligent and good.
"There are no more secrets to success. You can win something important in one season but to be consistent through the years there is just one secret: have quality players. When you have a team like this, we have to try to buy as good a player as possible, and you can sustain it for a long time."
Particularly this season, Guardiola has had to field a City team devoid of a recognised striker, though it is something the Spaniard isn't bothered about.
"I have to admit that I like players with the ability to keep the ball," Guardiola stated. "It is one of the biggest principles I look for from the team and the players.
"Having the ball is the best way to defend and the players have to keep the ball in difficult circumstances. In all my career I play with a lot of mdifield players. I don't know why but I have the feeling that you can play better with this [approach], but at the same time we need everyone.
"Gabriel [Jesus] was so important this season, I'm not going to talk about how important Kun [Aguero] has been and was in the past in the period we were together. Unfortunately he was injured most of the last year but now he is fit again.
"Raheem [Sterling] again - everyone is important but I have to admit that the players know I like it when the just keep the ball and after we see what can be produced with that. It happened with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and here as well."

We’ve made good use of the players we have and they’ve reached newer and higher levels since joining Tell me was Ruben Dias going to reach the level he’s at without us? He would’ve stalled but our development helped him grow into one of the best cb in the league

I am not interested in talking to you coz whatever i say , you won't even try to fathom it. For me , he is the best and nothing others say can change that and for a guy who has won so much and dominated every league he has been in , he doesn't need to prove anything to anyone. I have seen his bayern munich play live on several occasions and it changed my perception of football whilst also making me obsessed with this incredible sport. He was the only reason , i bought a season ticket of Allianz.

Ruben dias for 75m Nathan Ake 50m Torres 25m ( he scored 31 this season, while 41 with Valencia last season) cancelo for 72m rodri for 70m Riyadh Mehrez for 75m wow he really develop players... and for us we won 4 trophies with Cristiano. 2 league titles just as many as Madrid won with him.
