Pep Guardiola has told Raheem Sterling to ignore his own hype and comparisons with the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
His form has earned the 24-year-old winger huge praise, with Gareth Southgate suggesting Sterling can elevate himself to the level of Messi or Ronaldo.
On Friday, former Liverpool player and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher also claimed Sterling is already better than PSG star Neymar.
Carragher continued by comparing Sterling's rapid rise to Ronaldo's development during his time at Manchester United.
But Guardiola, who oversaw Messi’s rise at Barcelona and came up against Ronaldo with Real Madrid on many occasions, urged Sterling not to get carried away.
‘I’m so happy for him, for the way he’s playing here and national team,’ said the City boss. ‘But hopefully he won’t read or listen to these kind of things.
‘Nobody can compare with Cristiano or Messi. I don’t know if he’s the best in England, but he’s been incredible with his work ethic, and he’s a nice guy. I’m delighted for him.’

if you are compared to Messi and Ronaldo is simply means you are a very good and consistent player and doesn't mean you are up to their level..
