Alan Shearer described Matteo Guendouzi as 'magnificent' and 'a warrior' for his performance against Aston Villa.
With Ainsley Maitland-Niles sent off in the first half, the Gunners found themselves 2-1 down and up against it in the second period.
But Guendouzi and Co fought back to win the game 3-2 with Calum Chambers and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring late on as the hosts showed steel many have previously accused them of lacking.
Alan Shearer was among those to heap praise on the 20-year-old, who performed like a more senior player.
On Match of the Day, he said: 'When you consider they went down to 10 men, the change in attitude was incredible.
'Guendouzi was magnificent in the second half, they needed a warrior and he stood up.
'We’ve questioned Arsenal’s character enough time and we’ve got to give them praise. What a performance in the second half.'
Guendouzi picked up the man of the match reward for his performance as he inspired the team from the middle of the pitch.
Nobody had more touches or passes than the Frenchman, who looks integral to Unai Emery's side despite his tender age.
Next up for the Gunners is the third-round League Cup clash with Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

We're in the year 2040 and Matteo Guendouzi is playing his final game for the club. He has captained Arsenal to 4 Premier League's, 6 FA Cup's, 1 Europa League, 3 Champions League's, 1 League Cup and captained France to a World Cup in 2030. Captain, leader, legend

Willock-Torreira-Guendouzi has to be the midfield 3. Xhaka slows us down too much. We need intensity.

Arsenal really, really got away with that. A lot of credit has to go to Guendouzi, at times it felt like a one-man mission from him to get his team back into a match that looked lost. Poor in the first half but simply phenomenal in the second.

He looked huge out there. Even from his shear disgust his 35 yard shot didn’t go in even though it was one of our best attempts to that point. Organise that defence because we have Some serious quality else where.

Every fan knows that all great successful teams win when not playing well. We won today not playing great. Coming from behind twice with 10 men. When we have ALL players fit and available, when we have ALL players playing to their potential, watch us fly 👍

Watching Matteo Guendouzi play live was a true pleasure. He played for the badge and made us look like we had 12 men on the pitch.
