Arsenal officially announced on August 8th that Brazilian international Bruno Guimaraes has joined the club. The midfielder spoke in an interview about his goals after joining the Gunners, his relationship with Rice, and his expectations for making history at Arsenal.

Guimaraes revealed that Arsenal's midfield maestro Rice had previously sent him a message, hoping they could put an end to their past rivalry on the pitch and become teammates fighting together in the future.

Guimaraes stated: "Rice sent me a message saying: 'Come here, I hope there will be no more arguing in the future, now we are friends.'"

Guimaraes admitted he was very pleased by Rice's gesture. He believes that their numerous clashes in the Premier League were simply part of the game, and now they have established a positive relationship.

"I'm very happy that he sent me that message. It showed me his attitude," Guimaraes said.

When discussing the prospect of forming a midfield partnership with Rice at Arsenal, Guimaraes spoke highly of the Gunners' current midfield. He believes Arsenal possesses one of the best midfields in Europe, with every player possessing top-tier ability.

"From my perspective, Arsenal's midfield is one of the best in Europe. Everyone here is a very excellent player."

"Every time I faced Arsenal, the game was very difficult. They could control the pace and defend as a unit. I think this style also suits my playing style very well. Of course, joining the league champions is always a huge opportunity."

Regarding what he can contribute to the team, Guimaraes stated that he hopes to help Arsenal succeed with his fighting spirit and all-round ability.

"I can pass, I can run constantly, and I can play like a warrior. I will never give up. I will try my best to help the team."

"I perform well with the ball, stay calm and composed during games, and sometimes I can score goals. I hope to make everyone here very happy."

Guimaraes said that joining Arsenal is an important step in his career as he pursues higher goals. The Brazilian midfielder has won championships in Brazil, an Olympic gold medal with Brazil's Olympic team, and helped Newcastle win trophies, but he remains hungry for more.

"Everything I've achieved in the past is very important, but I want more. I want to win championships for Arsenal and win more honours in my career. I think I'm at the peak of my career at 28, and this is the right place."

"Joining Arsenal excites me very much. When you wear this jersey, you must fight for the championship, strive to win everything, and make history."

Guimaraes emphasized that he hopes his name will be written into Arsenal's history and serve as an inspiration for future young players.

"I hope my name can remain in the club's history. One day, when I leave here, I hope future players who come to Arsenal will say: 'I want to do what Bruno once did for this club.'"

"I think that's the best thing a player can do for a club – make history and inspire young players."

After joining Arsenal, Guimaraes will become the 17th Brazilian player to play for the Gunners. Among Arsenal's legendary midfielders, the one he most wishes to emulate is Gilberto Silva.

"Of course, it's Gilberto Silva. I really admire his playing style. I had the opportunity to speak with him before, and I hope to continue the success he achieved at Arsenal and become one of the club's great players."

Additionally, Guimaraes confirmed that he will wear the number 39 jersey at Arsenal, a number with deep personal significance.

"Number 39 means everything to me. I also have a tattoo of the number 39 on me."

"My father was a taxi driver in Brazil for over 20 years. That taxi gave my family everything – our home, food, clothes, and everything in life."

"So when I had the chance to join a top Brazilian club, I asked my father which number I should choose. He told me 39. At the time I was a bit disappointed because I wanted to choose 97."

"He said: 'No, choose 39. Number 39 gave you everything.'"

Guimaraes recalled that when he joined Athletico Paranaense, before his medical examination, he opened his luggage and found the number 39 jersey was already inside.

"I was very shocked, so I asked the kit man: 'Why 39?' He said: 'If you don't like it, you can change the number.'"

"I immediately told him: 'No, no, no, this is exactly the number I want!'"

"At that moment, I called my father. When I told him about it, he cried. He said: 'I told you, this number will bring you good luck.' Since then, I have always worn number 39."

Finally, Guimaraes expressed his commitment to Arsenal fans. He said he would give his all and looks forward to creating wonderful memories with the Gunners' supporters.

"I want to say to everyone, thank you for everything you have done. Thank you for all the messages and support you have given me. I am very much looking forward to joining you."

"I will give my all, I promise. As I said, I am your warrior, and I will never give up."

"I hope we can create many wonderful memories together."
