Haaland bags double against Sweden to become Nations League top scorer

Erling Haaland is tearing up the Nations League as the new Manchester City striker scored a brace in Norway's 3-2 win over neighbours Sweden.

The win consolidated the Nordic side's position at the top of Group 4 of League B and boosted their chances of moving up to League A.

They have 10 points from four games thanks to Haaland. Of the six goals Norway have scored in these four games, five have been scored by the striker who has become the top scorer in the Nations League.

Turkey's Dursun, with four goals in three games in League C, is the only one who comes close.

The former Dortmund man scored the winner in the 1-0 win over Serbia, a brace in Sweden (1-2) and a brace in Oslo.

In a crazy game full of chances, Haaland opened the scoring with a header in the first half and extended the lead with a penalty.

Forsberg then pulled one back before Sorloth, assisted by Erling, restored the two-goal cushion.

Gyokeres, following a mistake by goalkeeper Nyland, added some tension to a finale that Haaland watched from the bench when he was substituted in the 89th minute.

Nearly a goal a game with Norway

Haaland's numbers for Norway are impressive. He has 20 goals in 21 games, making him the ninth highest scorer of all time for his national team.

Jorgen Juve's record of 33 goals between 1928 and 1937, is within touching distance.
