Haaland urges teammates to deliver repeat performances of their 7-0 Leipzig rout

Erling Haaland wants Manchester City to play with Tuesday evening's intensity more often after he broke yet more records by scoring five in a rout of RB Leipzig.

The Norwegian took his tally to 39 goals for the season, overtaking the previous best, set by Tommy Johnson 94 years ago.

He also became the youngest player ever to reach 30 goals in the Champions League.

Haaland - who revealed that he wanted to stay on despite being afforded a rest by Pep Guardiola - believes City should go at teams with this gusto more regularly.

'We worked on the pressing, especially at home we have to run and press,' the 22-year-old said. 'We are so good at getting the ball.

'In my opinion, we should do this more. I think we can use this [pressing] more, there is more space for the guys in between to play.'

Haaland added: 'I told him [Guardiola] I would love to score a double hat-trick but what can I do? I'm blurry in my head.

'I remember shooting but not thinking. I was so tired after my celebrations.'

My super strength is scoring goals. Should I be honest? A lot of goals, I didn't think. I was just trying to get it into the back of the net. A lot of it is being quick in the mind and trying to put it where the goalkeeper is not.'
