Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott has confirmed that he snubbed a meeting with Sergio Ramos when Real Madrid tried to sign the hotshot because of what the Spaniard did to Mo Salah in the 2018 Champions League final.
The 17-year-old was a youngster in demand last summer, with boyhood club Liverpool and Madrid interested in signing him from Fulham following their relegation from the Premier League.
Following his switch to Anfield, a story emerged that Elliott was shown around the Bernebeu and offered the chance to meet Madrid captain Ramos, but the teenager declined out of respect for the Liverpool hero.
Ramos had injured Salah's shoulder in the early stages of the Champions League final two years ago, in a massive blow to Liverpool's chances of winning the trophy as Madrid ran out victors.
And Elliott has confirmed that the story of his Ramos snub is true, before opening up on his relationship with the Egyptian star.
'Yeah, that's true,' he told The Athletic. 'I turned it down because of what he did to Mo.
'I'm usually in the gym at the same time as Sadio (Mane) and Mo, and they give me a lot of advice.
'If I'm doing a particular weight and it's looking too easy, then Sadio or Mo will be over to push me with a different weight to make it harder. If I'm doing exercises with the band, they'll be over to make sure my body is in the right position.
'I play left-back against him [in training],' he added. 'The day before a match, we do play-outs from the back at Melwood. We analyse the way the opposition play and then us players who aren't starting are asked to play out in the same way so the first team can get a feel of what it's going to be like in the match the next day.
'I'm normally left-back for that. To be up against Mo and to see what he does, how he moves, the way in which he changes his speed; he's world-class and so tricky to deal with. If I can keep up with Mo, then I know I'm doing OK! I look up to him a lot.'
While at Fulham, Elliott became the youngest Premier League player ever when he made a late substitute appearance against Wolves in May 2019, aged 16 years and 30 days.
The 17-year-old is regarded as a future star, and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has not been shy in heaping praise on the youngster.
'It's easy to be convinced about him when you see him training,' he said last October. 'He is an exceptional talent, absolutely, and he's a nice kid as well.'

Apart from their starting positions being a little bit further apart, they are the same.. I know Hakimi isn't as successful as the likes of Pavard, Alexander-Arnold, Walker, and Carvajal. He's an upcoming talent who just had his breakthrough season where he has been one of the best in his position in the world. Harry Kane hasn't won a major team trophy in his career to date, but he's considered by many as an elite striker. Similarly, Hakimi's barren trophy cabinet shoudn't make him too far inferior compared to the very best right backs in the game

Harvey Elliot is a 16 or 17 year old prospect who is the youngest player to play in the Prem. He has won the premier league and has a bright future ahead of him. He played for fulham before joining Liverpool and now is playing mainly with the youngsters but has played for the senior team this season. So yeah all I can say is he has a bright future ahead of him and I wish him luck at Liverpool.
