'He HAS to start': Jermaine Jenas insists Marcus Rashford should be guaranteed a starting place

Jermaine Jenas has demanded Marcus Rashford starts for England in the World Cup knockout stages after his sensational two-goal performance against Wales on Tuesday.

Rashford was given the nod to start his first match in Qatar by Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate and repaid the trust shown in him by scoring twice in the second-half to put the match to bed.

Rashford opened his tournament tally with a brilliant free-kick that wrong-footed Wales goalkeeper Danny Ward. He added another 18 minutes later with England running away with the match as Wales' World Cup exit was confirmed.

Commentating on Rashford's second strike, Jenas said:  'You can tell his eyes lut up when that free-kick was given.

'Straightaway he was licking his lips knowing exactly what he is capable of, it's the keepers side he should do better, he takes one little step to his right, he thinks it's going over the wall.

'He kids him, gets some whip and dip on it and smashes it into the far corner. It's a brilliantly taken free-kick, I do think the keeper will be disappointed though.

'It's a special one, it's a team goal, started at the back, the ball from Phillips is right on the money, the minute he picks up the ball he has one thought on his mind. He smashes it at Danny Ward's feet and it goes through him.

'Rashford in this form, he is too quick, too sharp, too confident, too good,' added Jenas.

'He has to start for England, three goals at the tournament, playing the way he is, I don't see how you don't start Marcus Rashford if you're a manager.
