Here's my advice to Kane about Arsenal transfer after I spent 6 months at Spurs

Former Tottenham striker Louis Saha says he can see Harry Kane back in the Premier League - but warned him over making a switch to Arsenal.

This week saw the revelation of Kane's alleged release clause from Bayern Munich, with German publication BILD reporting the 31-year-old could leave the club for £54million come January 2026. It was also reported that Kane would have been free to leave the Bundesliga giants for just £67m in the January transfer window, just 18 months after he joined in a £100m deal from Spurs. While Kane has not won a major trophy with the German giants yet, he has scored an astonishing 72 goals in 73 games since making the move. Nonetheless, whispers of a jaw-dropping switch to Arsenal persist, as Mikel Arteta's squad struggles through an unforgiving injury nightmare up front. With Kai Havertz potentially out for the season, and extensive lay-offs for Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, Arsenal's need for a striker has intensified. Despite this, Saha - who spent six months at Spurs in 2012 - has advised Kane against donning the Gunners' shirt, suggesting a trophy with them isn't a sure bet.

"Harry Kane is a legend at Tottenham. He left the country for trophies and a new challenge, and he could end up back in the Premier League – he may prefer the lifestyle in London," Saha said to Paddy Power, via Football London.

"I could never see him joining Arsenal though – they are not guaranteed to win trophies, despite having great players and playing well.

"A striker of his quality will definitely give them more of a chance, but he can do that at Tottenham as well. He's someone I respect and a good example for youngsters, so I could never advise him to join Arsenal."

Kane stands as Tottenham's top scorer with an impressive tally of 280 goals in 435 appearances. Ex-Spurs winger Aaron Lennon has also said that he couldn't envision Kane heading to the Emirates, especially given the inevitable comparisons with Sol Campbell, who controversially switched from Spurs to Arsenal in 2001 and drew the wrath of fans.

"I'm not buying that, not a chance in the world Harry Kane goes to Arsenal," Lennon said on talkSPORT. "I think he goes to a better club [when he leaves Bayern] or he finishes his career back at Spurs. There's no chance he goes to Arsenal, can you imagine what that would do?"

Arteta might have his eye on the prolific England striker too, considering the damage Kane has done to Arsenal over time. He's scored 15 times against the Gunners, including a penalty at the Emirates during last season's Champions League quarter-final win for Bayern.

However, former Chelsea star Joe Cole has envisioned a scenario where Kane could end up at Arsenal. "I can see the logic with Harry Kane joining Arsenal – stranger things have happened," he said.

"He's gone to Germany, and he's carried on where he left off. The man just oozes goals. For Arsenal, as a footballer, he would be the perfect last piece in the jigsaw – he suits them down to the ground."
