Chelsea icon Gianfranco Zola believes Arsenal have secured an incredible deal by bolstering their defensive line with the capture of David Luiz.
Zola, who worked as Maurizio Sarri's assistant at Chelsea last season and knows Luiz well, has explained why the addition of the South American will be so beneficial to the Gunners.
"It's certainly good business for Arsenal because they are getting a player with a lot of personality. Seeing the type of team Arsenal is, he will be very beneficial to them," he told BeIN Sports.
"He's very influential to the players, he is a leader. He always gets the attention of the others, he's a very intelligent player.
"Last year, he was very important for players like Rudiger, who were always looking up to him, especially for a team trying to play football from the back.
"Probably defending is not his best ability, he's more like a midfielder than a defender but you need those players in modern football and, when he's focused, he's not bad defensively. He can defend well.
"I don't think there is anyone as good as him than making the lines from the back, passing between the lines or switching play.
"Considering what Arsenal needed, it's brilliant, he's exactly the type of player that they needed."

this line up will bring balance to the team, luiz isn't the best defender but can stick to the cdm role very well, better than slow and average xhaka, with him and torreira I expect a combat midfield. I'm not a fan of ozil but he is obviously our most creative player so just give him the free role, luiz and torreira would cover him. Auba favours the central role but we can't afford to lose laca, he isn't that good on the wings but we just have to fit him and ozil
