The Japanese player of Barca B is in the running for the AFC award alongside Lee Kang-in and Doan Van Hau.
Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the top governing body of Asian football, released the list of nominations to the Youth Players of the Year award in which Hiroki Abe appears. The attacking midfielder of Barcelona B is competing alongside Lee Kang-in (South Korea & Valencia) and Doan Van Hau (Vietnam & Heerenveen).
The Japanese attacker, who debuted with the first team last Wednesday in a friendly at Cartagena, was one of the sensations of the Japanese League during the first part of 2019 season and in summer came to play the Copa America with the senior national team of Japan. Abe is now called to be one of the top starlets in Japan alongside Takefusa Kubo, who has not been included in the nomination, at the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The final winner of the Youth Players of the Year award will be presented on December 12 at the AFC Annual Awards held in Hong Kong.

I remember the first time I saw some highlight video of Lee Kang-in, thinking it was years and years until he could ever be considered for the first team, and most likely he was just another youtube kid.

I’ve been following Lee Kang-in closely for the past two years. I think genuinely think he’s got the potential to be the next david silva for valencia. His awareness is absolutely world class and it allows him to turn away from pressure with tight turns, kind of like cazorla or modric. His best comparison might be a left footed modric.

Lee Kang-in looked real solid for Valencia early in the season when he was getting some regular minutes. Exciting prospect.

In a sense,Lee Kang-in's actually a reality TV star! There's a Korean TV show that focuses on kids who play football and he was the star player on the show's team. He was scouted by Valencia at 10 years old and has been climbing the ranks of their academy, comfortably making the jump to the next level each time.

Watch the highlights of the copa del rey game against getafe. Lee Kang-in's vision is crazy good and he's developing his skills at getting out of pressure well.

I love this Lee Kang-in so much, with him, Ferran, Lato, Centelles, Guedes, etc. our future seems really bright for once, and with our finances stabilizing more and more, we probably might be able to keep them and win things. God, we deserve this after all the shit we went through in the past decade.

Our little gem, I really hope Marcelino gives Lee Kang-in more play time next season, or at the very least we loan him out to another Primera club, the kid will grow up to be a legend of the game, at the very least in South Korea and Asia, he has bags of talent and plays like he has the experience of someone 10 years his senior, and he'll only get better and better.

Really impressed with him these past 2 years. It seems like Lee Kang-in's progressed from promising youth to viable first team player. He's signed a new contract with Valencia and he's in Marcelino's plans next year. He was one of the reasons Valencia were able to stay in the Copa del Rey, contributing in the final 2 goals versus Getafe.
