The Mexican manager is close to becoming the new head coach of the Major League Soccer side for the 2022 regular season that is set to start in February,

Jaime Lozano led the Mexican Olympic team to win the bronze medal in Tokyo 2020 and after the conclusion of the campaign he decided to part ways. He is a young and talented coach and according to a report from The Athletic, the Mexican manager could take the job at Houston Dynamo in the next few hours.

The new Dynamo general manager, Pat Onstad, was hired on 1 November and this will be his first big move in the job. Other names on the list are former FC Dallas coach Luchi Gonzalez and Pablo Mastroeni.

Tough task for Lozano

If both sides reach an agreement then Lozano will have a tough task to return the Dynamo to the top spots in the Western Conferences in Major League Soccer. They have had three difficult seasons and they haven't made a run for the MLS Cup final since they won it in 2007.

Lozano started his coaching career with the academy sides for Pumas UNAM and Querétaro in the Liga MX. He was able to lead both teams to win the U-20 Liga MX Clausura titles.
