How Arteta led Arsenal to FA Cup glory

Mikel Arteta picked up his first trophy as a head coach on Saturday as Arsenal won the FA Cup.

Since taking over from Unai Emery earlier this season, the Spaniard is thriving in charge of a club he spent so many years playing for.

Arteta hasn't just impressed with his tactics but his man management, too, improving the mentality of the squad.

"That's what we've been working on since lockdown, having a positive attitude, always wanting to win games even when we do go down, and playing our football no matter what happens," said Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Reinstalling that winning mentality at Arsenal was one of Arteta's main objectives from the start.

"Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in the world and we want to win trophies," he said at his presentation.

Just a few months into the job, he's already delivering silverware.

"Mikel is part of the new generation of coaches whose football is exciting to watch," said Jurgen Klopp.

Arteta has managed to combine a style of play that's pleasing on the eye and based around possession with a system that takes advantage of the pace of attackers like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe.

"Arteta has a playing philosophy that I perfectly fit into," said Dani Ceballos.

It's no surprise that Arteta is already such a hit at Arsenal, having played under the likes of Arsene Wenger and coached alongside Pep Guardiola.

"Mikel Arteta is creating something very special at Arsenal," said Guardiola himself before Manchester City were beaten by the Gunners in the FA Cup semi-finals.
