How Mourinho's training ground spat with Pogba unfolded?

Paul Pogba's toxic feud with Jose Mourinho reached new levels on Wednesday when the pair were caught on camera bickering during Manchester United's training session.

The tension between the United manager and his star midfielder has escalated over recent weeks because Pogba wants to move to Barcelona.

Mourinho stripped Pogba of the vice-captaincy during an address to the whole squad earlier this week, telling his team-mates: 'You're not a captain. You will never be a captain.'

And the pair became embroiled in another spat at Carrington after Mourinho criticised Pogba for posting an Instagram video of himself laughing as he watched United's Carabao Cup loss to Derby County from the stands.

It only served to fuel speculation that the relationship between player and manager has completely broken down.

We take a close look at the video footage to reveal what really went on during Wednesday's spat.

1. Manchester United are training at their Carrington training base the morning after their Carabao Cup defeat on penalties to Derby County. There are three broadcasters and five cameras on the touchline of the training pitch - Sky Sports, the club's in-house television station MUTV and Premier League Productions. Sky are invited to film United's training sessions twice a month and some United insiders were surprised that invitation wasn't revoked given United's poor form and the tensions within the camp. Pogba bounds out to training and shakes the hand of United's first-team coach Michael Carrick. Ignoring Mourinho, he then runs up and shakes the hand of press officer John Allen.

2.  As Carrick walks away, it's clear that Mourinho, who has a smirk on his face, makes a comment in Pogba's direction.

3. Still shaking hands with Allen, Pogba turns in reaction to Mourinho's comment and glances at the manager with a disbelieving look on his face.

4. Carrick, having sensed an argument is brewing, looks back over his shoulder. Pogba and Mourinho are now looking at one another.

5. Mourinho drops his eye contract with Pogba and start to walk off but the Frenchman continues to glare directly at the manager. Allen, caught in the middle of the tension, looks towards Pogba.

6. Pogba, who has been stopped in his tracks by whatever Mourinho said, looks increasingly angry as the boss, his hands stuffed deep into his trouser pockets, walks away.

7. As Mourinho heads off, Pogba appears to look towards Allen in search of an explanation as to why the comment has been made.

8. An irritated Pogba turns and catches up with Mourinho, continuing the argument. Mourinho shakes hands with the passing Marcus Rashford as they walk. Pogba continues to speak as he joins the group in front of them.

9. Pogba jogs ahead of Mourinho, who continues to stand with hands in pockets. As Pogba continues the argument, Mourinho turns to Andreas Pereira. The Brazilian midfielder was with Pogba in an executive box at Old Trafford on Tuesday night and featured in the Instagram video clip, along with defender Luke Shaw.

10. Pogba continues to fix his gaze on Mourinho but now has his shoulders raised as well as things grow more tense. Rashford walks between Mourinho and Pereira, with the manager tilting his head to look round the striker. Pereira doesn't appear to speak.

11. Pogba's body language becomes more animated as he and Mourinho resume their argument directly. In the background, Mason Greenwood's attention has been distracted by the feud, while a member of the United training staff with their hood up, also watches closely.

12. Pogba continues to make his point, raising his hands. Mourinho still doesn't appear to make any eye contact with him.

13. Greenwood gets a pass from a team-mate out of shot and looks away. Mourinho turns back towards Pogba, who is continuing to make his case.

14. Pogba appears to point in the direction of Pereira (out of shot) as he proceeds with his argument. The discussion once again has Greenwood's attention.

15. Mourinho turns around to face the cameras and, with Pogba still talking, glances back in the direction of Allen.

16. Pogba now turns towards Allen, who is walking towards the group. It is believed Mourinho asked Allen: 'John, when did Paul post on Instagram?' It was posted late on Tuesday night.

17. Allen (third right) has now joined what is becoming an increasingly large group. Pogba is just to the left of shot. Allen appears to be answering Mourinho's question about the Instagram post. On the left, Alexis Sanchez has sensed something is happening and orbits the edge of the group.

18. Pogba now responds, point at himself as if to suggest that he is being accused of something. Pogba is understood to have replied: 'What's the problem? Why can't I do nothing? I come here and do nothing. This is my problem.'

19. The camera zooms in on Pogba, who is again in animated argument using a variety of hand gestures to plead his case.

20. The camera pans back to Mourinho and the wider group. The manager's face looks distinctly unimpressed by Pogba's arguments. Mourinho still isn't looking at him, rather back at his coaches or even towards the cameras to check if they are filming. In the background, Greenwood has stopped training to watch intently.

21. As things become more heated, Mourinho issues his response. He too uses hand gestures, jabbing his fingers and slicing the air with a flat palm in the direction of Pogba (out of shot). The manager's face becomes more and more angry. To the right, Sanchez, who is continuing his circuit of the group, looks back in astonishment.

22. Mourinho is in the full flow of his argument now. The cameras capture an accusatory finger pointed in Pogba's direction, even if the manager doesn't appear to be looking at him.

23. Pogba draws closer and closer to the group. At this point, it looks like he's about to square up to Mourinho. Allen appears to be in the middle of the argument.

24. The camera pans back to reveal the sizeable crowd of coaches and players that is now watching the argument. Pogba stretches out his arms and shrugs his shoulders in apparent dismissal of what Mourinho is saying.

25. Pogba fires a lingering glance in Mourinho's direction as the argument draws to a close. Those stood around do their best to pretend they're not listening.

26. Tensions simmer down at last as Pogba walks away to the left and Mourinho turns away on the right.  Pogba nods his head several times before heading away.
