Callum Hudson-Odoi wants Chelsea to allow him to leave this week in a £35million move to Bayern Munich, insisting that he needs to play in order to develop as a player.
The 18-year-old, who is only now getting his chance under Maurizio Sarri since Bayern demonstrated their interest in him, wants to join the Bundesliga champions as they are in a rebuilding process, with wide players Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery quitting at the end of the season.
Bayern want Hudson-Odoi to be part of their immediate future whereas Chelsea, who have signed wide player Christian Pulisic for £58m, have previously stressed the need for patience.
Chelsea want to keep Hudson-Odoi and have urged him to sign a new deal, as his current contract runs out in 2020.
Chelsea have indicated they will offer Hudson-Odoi a five-year deal but at present specific financial details haven’t been discussed because the focus has been on where the player can develop best.
Having seen his friend Jadon Sancho, also 18, thrive at Borussia Dortmund, Hudson-Odoi has come to believe that the Bundesliga offers a better pathway than Chelsea can offer.
As such, it seems highly unlikely he will sign a deal, meaning Chelsea’s best chance of making significant money is to sell him this January as his value will plummet with just one year left on his deal.
The club is committed to bringing through a first-team player from their widely-admired academy, with Hudson-Odoi looking like being the first to make that leap since Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003.
But when Hudson-Odoi signed his first pro contract in 2018, his advisors made it clear that they would only commit up until 2020 as they were concerned at Chelsea’s poor record of bringing through youth team players.
And Hudson-Odoi appears to have been caught in limbo between the dying days of the Antonio Conte regime and the opening months of Sarri’s reign, where establishing himself at new manager at the club and installing fresh tactics were the priority.
As such, Hudson-Odoi barely featured, even on the bench, after starting the Community Shield. He started his next game on November 29th in the Europa League, having played just 35 minutes of first-team football in the three months since the Community Shield.
That appears to have been the period in which he lost hope in Sarri’s commitment to develop him.

Just let the boy leave already he has shown his interest in joining the German giants and he no longer wants to stay in Chelsea.
We wanted Kingsley’s Koman too sometimes back, but Bayern paid no attention to Chelsea, now they’ll do same to you, fyi he has 18 months left on his contract, That’s equivalents to a season.

Luiz will leave this season and is 30 year old better to utilize up young players like Ampadu and Christensen now.
Young players should only play if they're capable. Ampadu is capable. No doubt. But we don't have a good striker to put in the goals so Luiz is one of our few hope of scoring goals. Things can change next season but it should be Luiz till the end of the season.

I think he should be patient and see what happens to solanke cos some time you might felt u are good and yet you need more time. I'm not saying you should not go but if he think he is that good I think with time he will surely have more playing time. pls don't make a mistake

why keep such a good player out of playing time...he should be allowed to go, even on loan to have more playing time....To even be on the radar of Bayern tells us that we are not good at graduating the youth to the senior team....Let the boy go

Odoi is hindering his own development by rushing things. This is what usually causes the downfall of players. Rushing to start their careers at a young age doesn't always work out. Sancho is only doing well cos for 1 year he was PATIENTLY waiting for the chance and was an understudy to Reus etc while being on the bench for Pulisic. And unlike Odoi, Sancho was 100% not getting into the City side since he wasn't even one of the most considered talents at the time.... less popular than Diaz so he had no choice. But Odoi is possibly the best ever Chelsea academy graduate, he will most definitely get chances even under someone as stubborn as Sarri. He's already getting minutes and slowly if rotation is inducted, Odoi may see first team football very very regularly. No 18 year old gets the minutes he's getting this season, even Foden who people act like is used regular, plays less. At Bayern he gets the number 10 and a starting position but look at the cons, the amount of pressure is huge, personally I don't see any 18 year old handle the pressure of first team football week in week out with all responsibilities on them, especially as a number 10, possibly the most important role... if I was Callum, I'd think wisely. He's going to a new country in a new league, new language, new style of play and new teammates to adjust to on top of that having to perform week in week out. I've heard his dad has a hand in this and if he does, he's sacrificing his kids growth as a player for fame...
Beautifully analyzed sir.

Chelsea should sell him and include a buy back clause
Bayern would never agree to a buyback. They're too big for that. Plus between us and Bayern, if he plays at Bayern as a starter as a number 10, who would he choose, us or them? If the rumours are true, we have lost Odoi without a chance of getting him back unless he flops..

Sarri fault for putting Willian, Pedro, Morata, RLC ( a midfieder) and well everybody except Moses over him. He started playing him right after Bayern call him up he went from he's not ready to he's on the same level as Pedro/ Willian to i prefer Pedro over Odoi.
odoi can't be compare to Pedro at this stage

He is 18. Tell me any 18 yo play regularly in england?
Rashford, Dele Ali, Ronaldo and many other player did. While Gibbs White is currently doing it. He has Willian and Pedro the two oldest winger playing over him with Willian on the decline making 1 a goal contribution in 11 games. While Odoi made 2 in 15 minute.
