RC Lens head coach Will Still has announced on Saturday that he would leave his post in the Stade Bollaert-Delelis dugout. The Anglo-Belgian manager has cited personal reasons, notably his wife’s health issues, to explain his decision to return to England. Still was under contract with Les Sang et Or until 2027, but he will cut his Ligue 1 spell short. Still made his decision public in the aftermath of Lens’ 4-0 home win against Monaco.

“I will not be the head coach of RC Lens next season”, Still said. “For multiple reasons. The main reason, that pushes me to make this decision, is the fact that I need to return home. Everyone is well aware of what happened in my life.” Still’s companion – Sky Sports presenter Emma Saunders – is recovering from encephalitis. She fell into a coma in March. The former Reims manager said it was only logical for him to be closer to Saunders for her well-being, too.

Still reportedly has no intention of putting his burgeoning career to a halt. L’Equipe understands that Still dreams of coaching in England. The 32-year-old has reportedly declined the opportunity to join Scottish Premiership giants Glasgow Rangers. The next step in Still’s career looks set to be in an EFL Championship side. Miguel Delaney understands that Southampton have approached Still whereas L’Equipe adds that Hull City are also keen to lure the Anglo-Belgian head coach.
