Atlético Madrid striker Álvaro Morato has opened up about the lowest point of his career, admitting that he had considered playing "somewhere very far away".
Álvaro Morata has been currently enjoying some of the best moments of his career.
The current toast of Atlético Madrid, Morata has scored in Los Rojiblancos’ last six consecutive games and his performances have likely earned him his starting place in Spain's upcoming UEFA qualifiers against Malta and Romania.
However, the 27-year-old striker has recalled darker days of his career while at Chelsea in 2017-2018, which, after an unconvincing season with the Blues, ended with his exclusion from Spain’s World Cup squad.
“I didn't feel like doing anything, leaving home, talking to people, nothing,” Morata revealed in an interview to be aired on Spanish TV programme Jugones on Wednesday.
"The only thing I had in mind was going to the World Cup, playing and being happy ... and in the end I was quite the opposite of happy."
Asked about whether he had considered considering retiring during that low point, the Atléti striker replied: “No, but I did think about playing somewhere very far away, without pressure, without having to win every Sunday, without having to concentrate for matches.”
Morata joined Atlético Madrid on loan in January and after a successful 10 months at the Wanda Metropolitano, the LaLiga club are set to execute their option to purchase him from Chelsea in July for 56 million euros.
In his 30 appearances for coach Diego Simeone since his January arrival, the Spanish international has netted 13 goals and provided two assists, helping Atléti to secure a second place finish ahead of rivals Real Madrid in last season’s LaLiga campaign.

You were a failure in England, but that doesn't mean you are a total failure, you are too lazy, you can't handled & controlled pressure, the Jersey no 9 you ran from is being wore now by a much younger, determined & consistent man. Remember you are not at your best yet (13 goals from 30 matches). Wish you well bro.
Ain't motivation bros, he has being insinuating that coming to CFC was a mistake, he said he doesn't felt going out to play nor talk to people at a certain time while in cfc, you see that; he lost focus and trying to blame circumstance and situation that warranted those dooms days

Nobody was a fan of #Morata when he was about to come to Chelsea like me. i defended him everywhere, like no one else. i kept beleiving that his form would come back like when he was at Juventus. i was even happier when we chose morata over Lukaku. becaue morata looked like a full composed striker when you look at his size(weight, tall, right foot, left foot, skill, pace good with head goals,...)comes frome Real Madrid, and was given enough time to prove himself but he kept disappointing chelsea fan as time was going, things kept worsening. as a #chelsea i may regret not giving players like(kevin dbrune, Salah enough time,...)but I'll never regret how big , best or whatever morata might become in the future. we gave him more than enough time to prove. even a player like Abraham who has been in the 2nd division, has never played Champions league still can manage to a Number nine Chelsea Shirt...i just wish him the best because he was once a chelsea player.

Morata is not for Chelsea who always want to win, you play 30 matches with 13 goals is very poor. Just look at Abraham matches and his goal ratio

Falco ,Torres, Gonzalo and mortar were all going to fail because of the style of football Chelsea play. Chelsea wingers hardly cross the ball into the box . all of the above are strikers that a very strong in the air
yeah cos there is no trophy ambition in the team called athletico and there is in Chelsea that's why we've been one of the most successful team in England for the past 10 seasons

Morals got the easy way out. He was no where near prem quality so he ran like a clown to atletico where there is no expectations to anything really.

It's a high pressure world being a pro football player and not being able to find form. A lot of players are in the same boat. Take Coutinho , Andre Gomes when with Barca, all suffer depression and mental problems. We as fans should be more caring about the human side of all this.

Torres and Morata were/are both quality players, but I don't just understand what happened to them at Chelsea
it's safe to say Torres was better than Morata. however, we could say Chelsea game play need a strong Stricker ans non of them are

Morata was almost crying after every game due to barrage of rash criticism from fans , but now at ATM , its a different mood altogether, as he's now finding the back of the net more often than not , all the best Morata .

He was crying like a school kid when he was at Chelsea, if you can’t cope up the pressure of playing for a big club and winning you shouldn’t go for big moves. At Atletico you won’t even fight for cup titles as you have 2 big clubs ahead and will take all the cups home so good decision lad 👏

Morata is still not a good player I doubt his capabilities as a player. Chelsea gave you every chance and support yet you couldn’t proof anything.

thank you very much for the failed grade. I have made my point. William and Hazard are more inclined to cut inside rather than go to the byline and cross the ball

Morata replied: “No, but I did think about playing somewhere very far away, without pressure, without having to win every Sunday, without having to concentrate for matches.” So you mean you just couldn't handle the pressure of winning every week? Yet you wanna be a top professional? As talented as you are, your problems were mostly psychological coz your coaches believed in you even when it looked stupid
