The caretaker manager is not motivated by the possibility of surpassing a Red Devils legend
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not care about breaking Matt Busby's Manchester United record as he looks ahead to a blockbuster Premier League showdown against Tottenham.
Caretaker manager Solskjaer has won his opening five matches after replacing Jose Mourinho last month – equalling Busby's record from the 1946-47 season in the 2-0 FA Cup victory against Reading.
Solskjaer could surpass Busby's feat with victory against high-flying Tottenham at Wembley on Sunday but the United favourite is not interested in the landmark.
"I don't care," Solskjaer said. "Not now. I might sit down in 20 years' time and look at whatever records I have.
"When I'm in a position, I never look back on what I'm doing that way. Never, ever."
Solskjaer had overseen wins against Cardiff City, Huddersfield Town, Bournemouth and Newcastle United prior to the club's FA Cup success on Saturday.
United's four successive Premier League victories have seen the Red Devils move within three points of fifth-placed Arsenal, having scored 14 goals and conceded just three.
Tottenham are 10 points better off than United in third position, with Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino reportedly the favourite to succeed Mourinho at the end of the season.
"Spurs away, that's a proper test," Solskjaer said. "They have performed fantastically this season, they've got a great way of playing. There will be loads of things we need to look at.
"He [Pochettino] has got them performing really well over the last few seasons. Both as individuals and we have to look at the team unit and how we play against them."
On United's quest to qualify for the Champions League, Solskjaer added: "I'm not going to say top four is our target because my target is also a certain way of playing. That certain way of playing will get us to where we belong in the end. It depends on the performances."

United are on the roll this season under Óle ...... He is such a great manager and it is so good to see a revitalised Manchester United under him surely they r not the title contenders but they r pushing and doing very hard to secure that top 4 position in the table and I believe they could reach that top 4 spot if they went on delivering like this under the óle era......👌👌........ The Red Devils are really playing like Devils this season under óle hope they recieve greatest success under him 🙏 GGMU

Solskjaer was lucky to start his matches with the small clubs. All five consicutive matches he won were from small clubs which Mohrino could also have achieved. Mohrino also did win from most of the small clubs, but either lost to or drawn with bigger clubs like City, Liverpool, Chelsea,Juventus... Solskjaer never faced big club and all are proud thinking he brought the change. Match with Spurs is a proper test. If he can beat Spurs and some other big clubs, then I would say that he really is the cause of change. Mohrino was sacked for not winning from bigger clubs while Solskjaer is being praised for winning from smaller ones. Is it fair?

mourinho lost so many points against the small teams.how can we lose against west ham or conceding two goals in just eleven minutes played against Southampton..,it was actually annoying to watch Manchester united playing under mourinho. He changed his first 11 in each and every game. as well as changing the style of playing too,and that came after three years of management. In my point of view, I believe he was a failure and it was a good thing that we sacked him when we can still compete in a league, ucl and of course fa cup. ole ole ole..., thanks for the changes and the kind of football you applying to the players. I'm happy with you and you may hv a bright future ahead of you with Manchester united. ole ole ole you are the star.

Brighton & Hove Albion 3 - 2 ManUtd ManUtd 0 - 3 Tottenham (AT HOME???) ManUtd 1 - 1 Wolves (AT HOME???) WestHam Utd 3 - 1 ManUtd ManUtd 0 - 0 Crystal Palace (AT HOME???) Southampton 2-2 ManUtd Mourinho's United scored 29 goals in 17 games. Ole's United scored 14 goals in 4 matches. It's not just that Ole got the job because of Losses, even during Sir Alex's time they'd lose important matches. It's just that ManUtd has a tradition, a history, a certain type of play. ManUtd is the "Sir" of all other English clubs, so when they saw the divide within the club, the unhappiness, the fans not liking the football, they gave Mou the boot. What Ole is doing, is making good football, ManUtd football. Even if he loses, as long as the team plays like ManUtd should, he's doing a great job.

DAT same Bournemouth u re calling small team was won with a last gasp goal from rashford, buh OGS beat dem comfortably, still u saying dey re small teams... nobody says dey re not small teams, buh would mou av beaten dem comfortably? under Mou dis season, man utd scored more Dan 2 goals only 3 times =fulham 4-1, Newcastle 3-2, young boys 3-0... he kept 5 clean sheets in 24 games, and OGS has 2 in 5 games...in 17 EPL games, he has 2 clean sheets and 0 goal difference, OGS has 1 clean sheet and 11 goal difference in 4 matches... mou didn't beat derby county, a team from championship too, like reading! even if Tottenham beat united 5-0 at Wembley on sunday, d shots difference won't b 36-6 like Liverpool... nobody hates mou, buh nobody wants to c d team play like a collection of street footballers. so,if u don't know anything about football, just keep shut, read and don't comment !
