Frank Lampard insists inexperience is not the main reason for a downturn in form which has seen Chelsea's lead for the fourth Champions League qualification spot reduced to a single point.
"I don't think it's inexperience," Lampard told a news conference. "You can look at the youth in the squad and perhaps that's an easy conclusion.
"Perhaps that's part of it but it's not easy to pinpoint. The clinical nature of not scoring, the sloppy nature of having a lapse which gives a team with one or two shots a goal, which has happened a couple of times at home. Is it experience, quality? There's a lot of things to it.
"This period is what all Premier League clubs suffer. As young players you have to be even more aware that it can affect their confidence, because they're new to the team and the eyes of the world are on them.
"It's a big deal and a test for the younger players and I think with the physical nature of the league over the course of the season then there were always going to be little dips.
"The players will certainly come out of it better. It's how they train, how they play. I believe in all of them and think they're all going to be top players for this club, but they have to keep pushing and get out of moments like this."

It's a bit of inexperience but ultimately these youth players dominate our stats across the board. We have to be honest with ourselves and say the fact which is our young players are doing exceptional for their first seasons as Chelsea players. I cant fault Mount, Tammy, Odoi, Reece, Tomori, Pulisic for our season not going great cos reality is it's not on them to carry us, its on the experienced winners to carry us and they haven't been doing it this season which shows that this team truly was being carried by Hazard....

He has a wonderful style of football. Quick and fluid passing, high press and good work ethic needed. Unfortunately the players aren't doing the basics right like good finishing or man marking during set pieces or hitting crosses that meet the first man or getting making good touches on the ball. Those are attributes that players should develop in training. It's not a tactical aspect but a technical flaw.

Oh really?? First of all, this is the PL which is an English league. Secondly, we have no choice but to turn to academy players and most of them happen to be English players. Thirdly, we have seen him bench Tomori, Barkley, Hudson-Odoi and Mount during some stages of the season. So now having said all this, please tell me this. These young players were tired and some of them are injured. Then we have a few senior players who aren't good enough anymore. We need to wait till the summer to get rid of the deadwood and get in some good signings at a few critical positions. Only then will we bear the fruits of the good work put in this season. In Lampard we trust.

it hurts to lose a game when old players are in the xi but when I see youths are playing even when we lose I know one day they will change the game and they will be flying on top. I think of Billy Gilmore I think that player is a good quality players. if Lampard is dropping kepa who was expensive at one time why can't he find a way of benching someone who is not playing well and put Billy on the xi. there is a potential in that player look at FCB Ansu Fati the coach thinks this one have a quality to slot him in starting xi but keeping patience with players who are not improving but they are getting older it won't help us.
