'I feel good and confident' - Fabinho offers injury update and makes title claim

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho, who has been out of action since the end of November with an injury sustained in the Champions League against Napoli, says he is closing in on a return to full fitness.

Jurgen Klopp explained in his press conference on Friday that the Brazil star would be returning to team training next week, and Fabinho offered a further update while appearing as a guest on French television this weekend.

He told French outlet Telefoot: "My ankle is better, I trained alone this week.

"I am touching the ball again, I feel good and I feel confident."

Fabinho was also asked about his relationship with Jurgen Klopp and early days at Liverpool, with the Reds boss making certain his number three was perfectly drilled in the holding midfield position he has excelled in since arriving from AS Monaco in the summer of 2018 before starting him regularly.

The Brazilian said: "There was a change - it was a bit difficult when I started with the club but then he put me in the team."

Finally, he was asked whether Liverpool will be crowned Premier League champions this season - and the answer was emphatic.

Fabinho simply replied: "Yes!"
