Gary Neville has taken to social media to admit that he was 'completely wrong' about West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.
The Sky Sports pundit has acknowledged that he 'went too early' in his assessment of the England international.
Having now interviewed Rice, Neville says the midfielder is 'authoritative, confident, humble and talented' - describing him as 'the most impressive young footballer' he's interview in 11 years.
Neville look to LinkedIn to say: 'Thought of the week: Don't go too early. This is something that I often say to myself in punditry.
'You form a view on something either in haste or we always tell ourselves sayings like 'trust your first instincts', 'I knew I didn't like them after 5 mins'.
'However I interviewed Declan Rice this week for the overlap and I judged him as a young player at West Ham.
'I have to say I got it completely wrong. What an outstanding young person . Authoritative , confident , humble and quite simply the most impressive young footballer I've interviewed in 11 years.
'He's also a fantastic talent and I went too early!'.
The England international has become one of the standout midfielders in the Premier League during the 2021-2022 season.
Rice has made 28 appearances in all competitions so far this season - scoring three goals for the Hammers.

If you think of him so highly and Fred was able to keep in under control him and dominate the midfield. Why do you see Fred as a great midfielder for Manunited?
