Cristiano Ronaldo became the first outfield player in the history of football to hold 1200 top-level matches for clubs and the national team.
He reached this milestone on 8 December in a Saudi Arabia league match for Al Nassr vs Al Riyadh (4-1).
Apart from him, only 3 goalkeepers have played 1200+ top level games in their careers: Rogério Ceni (1225), Peter Shilton (1217) and Fábio (who appeared for Fluminense in his 1200th top-level match just one day before CR7; it was last round Brazil Serie A game vs Grêmio).
Among outfield players, no one except Cristiano Ronaldo has ever reached even the mark of 1100.
The second after him, Roberto Carlos, has stopped at 1090.

well we will see many messi fans who will be saying messi is better but in my opinion people have different perspectives and it builds up the opinion that what is great for them, messi is great no doubt at all, a rare talent, technically gifted but what makes ronaldo for me is that brute presence, the story he has, from humble beginning to the star he is, and in terms of football he shows what excites everyone, that power, left foot right foot, thundering goals, shattering records, performing day in day, challenging the chosen one, you see everyone can't be the special one or the chosen or the gifted one, but people can link up with ronaldo, with immense hardwork challenging the chosen one is possible and even beating them is possible and for me ronaldo is the greatest, the way he is the type of football he plays, a game changer, performs in big stage, carring the teams in numerous occasions and i think the hate we see for ronaldo and even messi is unnecessary, they are two of the greatest footballers world has ever seen, and we should respect them both.
