Ian Wright to appear on Sky and ITV coverage of Carabao Cup final

Arsenal face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday afternoon, with ITV using Sky Sports' broadcast to show the game on free-to-air television

Ian Wright will be part of Sky’s coverage for the Carabao Cup final. And Sky’s tie-up with ITV for the Wembley showpiece means the Arsenal legend will also be on ITV.

Sky and ITV share the rights to the Carabao Cup through the rounds and for Sunday’s final between Arsenal and Manchester City. ITV took Sky’s coverage last year - including the build-up - and are doing the same again this time.

It means Arsenal legend Wright - a more familiar face on ITV - will effectively be on both channels along with Sky’s regular all-star list like Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher.

Wright is due to be a pundit as his old club take on Manchester City in what promises to be a classic showdown between the Premier League’s top two. Wright is a huge TV favourite but did step away from Match of the Day duties two years ago to scale back his TV work.

It could shape the rest of the season as both are going for major trophies this season and it will also bring together Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and his former boss Pep Guardiola.

City boss Guardiola saw his team crash out to Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night so they have suffered a blow before the final but are still in the hunt for three trophies.

They are nine points behind Arsenal in the title race but have a game in hand, they have got the Carabao Cup final and are also still in the FA Cup.

Arsenal are still going on four fronts this season as they are in the title race, have got Sunday’s final and won their Champions League tie over Bayer Leverkusen to set up a quarter finals with Sporting Lisbon.

They are also in the FA Cup as they face a quarter final at Southampton and winning the Carabao Cup would strike an early blow against their big title rivals for the rest of the season.

That is why Sunday’s showdown promises to be a huge clash at Wembley which will also be a TV blockbuster.
