Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has apologised to Crystal Palace midfielder Max Meyer for the tackle that saw him red carded last weekend.
The striker went in late on Meyer during the Gunners' 0-0 draw with Palace at Selhurst Park, and he was sent off after VAR upgraded his yellow card to a red.
Aubameyang is now suspended for three matches, which means he will miss Arsenal's crucial trip to Chelsea on Tuesday, but he has also swiftly apologised to Meyer for the incident.
"I really didn't mean to hurt Max Meyer with that challenge," said Aubameyang in his programme notes ahead of Arsenal's clash with Sheffield United.
"I hope he gets well soon and I feel bad about it. It was a mistimed challenge.
"I feel really bad towards my team-mates and the club, and also of course to Max.
"Hopefully he can be back playing soon.
"My intention was to get the ball and I got it wrong. I'm sorry."

At least Aubameyang is being a real sport and he has accepted his mistake. There were a small section of Arsenal fans actually deluded enough to believe that it wasn't a red card when the replays were clear enough. Anyways, we move on from that. I'm sure Arsenal will be able to manage coz they have Lacazette up front and some good young wingers in Martinelli, Saka, Nelson and Pépé.
