It's easy to think that Manchester City have to win the Champions League every year because they invest so much in signings.
As if money guarantees you titles, or as if winning the Premier League, if you're a big club, doesn't mean anything. Such arguments, detractors, people with issues, will always exist.
The debate around what Pep Guardiola should or shouldn't have won at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and now City is already boring. Returning to it now won't draw any new conclusions.
It goes beyond data and trophies, which Pep also has. It's about feelings, sensations that come from sitting down to watch a Guardiola team play.
Tactics have long eaten the spectacle in football, and an emphasis on the game's physical side has overshadowed talent. That has buried the improvisational side of football, and it becomes more boring every day. Now, you can only find refuge in the comfort of watching Guardiola's Manchester City.
He uses tactics to solve problems, not to create them. He wants the ball to attack, not to protect himself. He's not the inventor of football, but he's its main protector today.
His teams play with a rhythm, speed, nonconformity, intelligence, ambition, solidarity, intensity, and, above all, a style that dignifies the sport.
It's not even necessary to mention his 18 straight wins, or his 25 games without losing. This goes beyond winning another Premier League or avoiding another disappointment in Europe.
This is about playing football. The one that filled pre-pandemic stadiums and has had people glued to their televisions.

Man City have now gone away to Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, Man Utd & Arsenal and have restricted Salah, Firmino, Mane, Werner, Kane, Son, Rashford, Greenwood, Aubameyang, Lacazette to just 4 shots on target in those games combined. Spending money is one thing, but spending judiciously for players as per your system and then molding them into your tactics to achieve this incredible thing is another thing. Pep deserves all the credit in the world.

It’s funny how people say pep is not a great manager because he buys players, lol just look at how much Barcelona has spent in the last 3 years on buying players and look at the number of managers they have already sacked. Pep is a tactical genius with a pleasant style of playing and winning football matches
