A series of dominoes involving Inter, Atalanta and Premier League side Fulham and their forwards Ademola Lookman, Rodrigo Muniz and Mehdi Taremi could be set to fall in the near future according to reports in Italy.
Inter are still hopeful of landing a deal with Atalanta for Lookman, La Dea have submitted an offer for Fulham’s Muniz, and the Londoners are reportedly interested in a potential deal for Nerazzurri centre-forward Taremi.
Lookman is currently in the UK, where he has been training individually after refusing to train with the rest of the Atalanta squad as a result of a €45m bid from Inter being turned down at the beginning of August.
Recent reports claim that the Nigeria international has no intention of returning to Bergano, and that he is only interested in joining Inter this summer.
Also in the UK at the moment is Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi, although according to reports from Calciomercato.com, the executive’s business relates to the hunt for a new centre-forward to replace Mateo Retegui, rather than anything to do with Lookman.
This comes after reports that Atalanta have submitted a formal offer of €40m including bonuses for Fulham’s Muniz, who is currently the leading candidate to replace Retegui, who left to join Al-Qadsiah in a €65m deal earlier this summer.
To complete the triangle, there are also reports that Fulham are looking at the possibility of signing Iran international Taremi from Inter in the event that Muniz is sold to Atalanta.
The 33-year-old joined Inter as a free agent at the end of his contract with FC Porto last summer, but is expected to be further down the Nerazzurri pecking order this season following the arrival of Ange-Yoan Bonny, the return of youngster Pio Esposito from loan and the targeted signing of Lookman from Atalanta.
Wednesday’s reports indicate that Fulham are seeking a fee of €45m for Muniz, and that Atalanta are still holding out for €50m for Lookman.
