Manchester United are worried they will lose out on promising youngsters Charlie Wellens and James Garner to Inter Milan, according to The Sun.

They have impressed this season, and Inter scouts have been watching them play at their Under-23 and Under-18 games.

United are keen to keep both of them at the club, but links to the Serie A giants could be enticing.

The 17-year-old Wellens signed a scholarship with United last year, playing as a central midfielder, the same role his gather Richie Wellens used to play at Leicester.

Wellens Snr, who started his career at Manchester United but never made an appearance for the first team, is now manager of Swindon Town.

The 18-year-old Garner, who made his Premier League debut against Crystal Palace last season, has attracted praise from United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He has also captained both the United and England youth teams and looks set to be a star of the future.

Inter Milan are currently third in Serie A, where coronavirus is causing havoc with the league games.
