Ipswich Town supporters greeted their team bus with flares as Tractor Boys were welcomed to Portman Road ahead of the Old Farm Derby against Norwich.

The derby returns after a four-year absence following Ipswich's promotion back to the Championship last season, with the hosts held to a 2-2 draw with their rivals.

Supporters of the Tractor Boys were seen lighting flares, with smoke billowing around their team bus as it approached the stadium.

Police were pictured controlling the crowds outside Portman Road ahead of the Saturday lunchtime kick-off.

Ipswich supporters were heading into the match in good spirits with their side chasing back-to-back promotions, although they handed Leicester an opportunity to open up a three-point lead after drawing on Saturday.

Kieran McKenna's side occupy the second automatic promotion spot in the Championship and were 10 points clear of third placed Leeds at full time.

The Foxes are not in action until Monday when they take on Wayne Rooney's Birmingham City in a game that will see some of the spotlight focues on the partners of both Rooney and Foxes star Jamie Vardy, following the 'Wagatha Christie' saga.

Rivals Norwich began the day down in 11th in the Championship after an indifferent start to the season under manager David Wagner, but a point on the road on Saturday saw them rise as high as ninth before the rest of the day's fixtures.

The Tractor Boys took the lead through Welsh international Nathan Broadhead in the first half, although the ascendancy lasted just six minutes before the first of a Jonathan Rowe double came on 40 minutes.

Rowe gave the visitors the lead on 49 minutes, but the hosts were able to grab a goal back and square the tie on 60 minutes through Wes Burns, with the points shared at teh final whistle.

Pressure has eased on Wagner in recent weeks after a recent upturn in results.

Wagner has overseen four wins in their last six matches, with the run taking Norwich three points away from the play-off places.

Norwich have been dominant in the derby during their recent clashes against Ipswich.

Ipswich are still yet to beat the Canaries since a 3-2 home win in April 2009 under Jim Magilton.

Ipswich have won their last eight home league matches ahead of hosting Norwich.
