Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola has played down suggestions that Antoine Semenyo has already played his final game for the Cherries, following their 2–2 draw away at Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking after the match, Iraola was clear in his stance regarding the Ghana international’s immediate future, insisting Semenyo remains very much part of his plans.
“This one at Stamford Bridge was not Semenyo’s last game,” Iraola said.“I think he will play against Arsenal, yes. He needs to recover because we play Arsenal at home in another three days, against the top of the league.”
Semenyo was once again influential in attack, continuing a rich vein of form that has seen him register an attacking return in each of his last four Gameweeks, with three goals and one assist. After the final whistle in London, the forward was seen waving to the travelling Bournemouth supporters, a gesture that further fueled speculation but also underlined his strong connection with the club’s fanbase.
For now, Iraola’s comments suggest Bournemouth remain focused on the present, with a crucial Premier League clash against league leaders Arsenal looming large.
