Arne Slot said Liverpool's 1-0 loss to Galatasaray was like "deja vu" as he rued their missed chances in the Champions League round of 16 first leg.
Mario Lemina's seventh-minute header was the difference at RAMS Park as Liverpool succumbed to their second defeat to Galatasaray in the competition this season.
Victor Osimhen – the match-winner last time the teams met – and Ibrahima Konate also had a goal apiece disallowed in an end-to-end encounter.
This is the first time Liverpool have lost twice away from home to the same side in the same season in major European competition.
Both sides had 15 shots in total, with Liverpool having more on target (six to four), while Galatasaray edged the expected goals (1.5 xG to 1.3).
And Slot was left frustrated by Liverpool's lack of a cutting edge as they will return to Anfield with a one-goal deficit to overturn next week.
"It's bad deja vu, you could say," said Slot following the defeat.
"The score is the same as the match three months ago. But we played a game where we could have scored much more.
"We created many chances; we missed many. We were really good in the first 15 minutes. But we couldn't find the goal."
Slot took charge of his 100th game for Liverpool in all competitions, becoming the 18th different manager to do so, recording the joint-most wins of any of them (W62 D16 L22).
Indeed, he is the first to lose his 100th game in charge since Graeme Souness, overseeing a 1-5 loss to Coventry City in December 1992.
However, Liverpool have struggled of late, with this their second defeat in three games in all competitions.
"This is a very difficult stadium. Both for opposing players and opposing coaches. It's hard to concentrate, and it's hard to communicate. Galatasaray are very lucky to have such an atmosphere," Slot added.
"Now we have a match against Galatasaray at our home stadium. We have fantastic fans who always give us strength.
"They will show this at Anfield, our home ground, and will be a driving force for us."

We all knew that pool was surely losing, Me as a rival fan am happy pool must come home at this stage ❤️😄👍
You gain nothing from your shitty comment. Please, tell Arsenal to at least get to the final this season, so they can have UCL to boast about Mr hater.

let him shut his big mouth. Doesn't seem to know his team. If Nunez was still in Liverpool, he have scored at least 2 of almost 15 chances not taken

When he coach starts talking like this .. saying deja vu repeatedly after each defeat rather than stating the problem and actually stopping it and fixing it .. it only means he knows the problems but even after so many games he can’t manage to fix it .. for me that’s not good enough for a Liverpool coach it’s a big club but as a rival fan I’m happy he can’t fix their problem .. it’s obvious he would be sacked at the end of season to avoid too many disruptions before seasons end .. but seriously the only good fit I can picture for Liverpool is maresca !! Boy or boy their fans might argue it but maresca could turn this Liverpool side to one that’s hard to beat .. they’ve got the players and his style of play would fit perfectly they’d attack and score tons of goals all they need to do his hire a good defensive assistant coach and a set piece coach to assist maresca and Liverpool would be scary !! But I hope they go for Xabi instead .. lol 😂 the fall off would be epic .. it’s not motivation that’s wrong with Liverpool it’s style-of-play ( no identity on the pitch ) Liverpool without an highly effective attacking style of play will always struggle !! That’s why KLOPP was loved he tweaked this and that but he never once touched their attacking style of play not once !! Anyways a lot of mad fans would argue without understanding my point but the wise ones please I’d happily read your opinions
Bro i see your point. This guy speak too much already. Now I'm more convinced, it was Klopp's players who won the EPL last season. Imagine spending half a billion to a winning team just to bottle their games speak tons. Struggling against an already relegated team. In fact, Liverpool looks like a small team with quality players. So if there's quality players, and the results are not showing, whose fault it is? maybe deja Vu's fault
