The Norwegian manager was brought on full-time after a brilliant spell as caretaker, but results have dropped off since he signed a permanent contract
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that his spell at the helm at Old Trafford has been a rollercoaster.
“It’s been a rollercoaster,” he told MUTV at the club’s end of season awards.
“We had a fantastic start, everyone just enjoyed themselves. When you win games, you’re confident, you smile, you start to enjoy yourself.
“Then we got a few injuries and it’s been ups and downs the last few months but that’s football, that’s human beings.
“It’s not like Football Manager, you’ve got to deal with different stuff outside football.
“There have been highs and lows but I’ve enjoyed it, it’s a great challenge. I’ve not gone to bed one night worrying about what’s going to happen because I love coming in, the boys are fantastic.”
Solskjaer went on to discuss the recruitment policy at the club.
Previous managers, including Mourinho, have been criticised for valuing star power over a cohesive strategy and the 46-year-old is planning a different approach, relying on young players.
“It’s a great challenge [to oversee the rebuild] but it’s a great responsibility as well, because this club is huge.
“The media and everyone’s criticizing us as soon as they’ve got a chance. We’ve just got to stick together.
“We’ve been through difficult periods before but we’ve got to come through it as a team. We’ve got to do it together.
“We’ve got to recruit smart, keep blooding the youngsters and we’ll be fine.”

Is there much to say? I think us fans don't understand 1 or 2 things here... For me if Ole fails to bring this team to its old position or just to revive it up then my suspicions about something wrong with the management will finally proven correct. Changing managers like diapers is a good way to drag a team in every direction... When your friends are only heading in one direction. The longer you go down the wrong road the harder it gets to go back.

Manchester United we talk a lot and expect things to happen in just 2 or three days,its not easy as we think,OGS found a team that was struggling with confidence failing to win,and he tried to bring the feel good factor and he was successful,if i may ask how many trophies has Klopp won for the club since he arrived from Germany 🇩🇪?the answer is zero,the club has had faith in him and they still have gave him time to see what he can deliver and little by little things are happening,Luis van-gal found him and he left mourinho found him is gone,and all the managers complain about Manchester United culture and structure when it comes to transfers,and now we have already started talking about sacking OGS if he doesn’t deliver next season,what we should not forget is that it takes time to build a team like the one we 1999,when Ferguson came he didn’t win anything in his first season did he?it looking at our current squad it won’t take a manager three seasons to build a good team but because we want things to happen so fast that is why we keep on firing managers.
