Paul Pogba scored the first goal of the afternoon after missing from the penalty spot at Old Trafford on Sunday as Manchester United took on Everton in the Premier League.
But Pogba's goal wasn't without controversy. As he went to take the spot kick, he staggered his run-up before wrapping his right foot around the ball.
Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford guessed the right way - down to his right - but palmed the ball back to Pogba who finished into the open left corner.
The suggestion was that Pogba had got lucky after not scoring first time from the penalty.
Former England and Manchester United defender Gary Neville said he didn't believe the France World Cup winner should over complicate his technique.
He said: 'It's not right, it doesn't feel right. It's not how you would kick a ball in normal play - it goes against everything you're taught.'
Neville went onto say that Pogba is only doing it 'for show, for theatre'. 'Cristiano Ronaldo used to do it at Old Trafford but it's not working for Paul Pogba,' Neville added.
Pogba was also criticised by former Liverpool manager Graeme Souness.
Souness agreed with Neville, suggesting that he should keep his penalties simple, similar to how he sees the game.
He said: 'I don't like to see this. I personally think it's a bit "look at me, look at me". I just don't get this penalty.
'I think he's moved the ball quickly today, he's been uncomplicated, but he's been really good today. If he can do that week in, week out, he'd be a properly top player.'
