In the event Barcelona fail to improve in the next few games, Joan Laporta may consider parting ways with Ronald Koeman, but finding a replacement is unlikely to be an easy task for the Barcelona president.
The man whom Laporta favours to potentially replace Koeman is Jordi Cruyff, but the Dutchman is not willing to succeed his compatriot in the near future.
"I will never replace Koeman on the bench, it would be ugly and I have principles," Cruyff told MARCA back in July and hasn't changed his mind one bit since.
The former Barcelona player has a close relationship with Koeman, who was already a friend of the Cruyff family through Jordi's father, Johan.
Hence, Jordi Cruyff does not intent to betray Koeman by replacing him as Barcelona coach, as he values their friendship more than a spot in the dugout.
Cruyff is adamant that he is not keen on succeeding Koeman and it remains to be seen whether Barcelona would offer him this opportunity in the future.
Several players, including Ansu Fati, Sergio Aguero and Ousmane Dembele, are expected to return to action in the next few games, as the board expect Barcelona to rediscover their form.
Meanwhile, Koeman is aware that the next three matches will be key with regard to his future at the club and he will aim to boost the the morale of both the team and the fans following the 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich at the Camp Nou in midweek.
Then, Barcelona will face Benfica in Europe and losing another game in the group stage could put Koeman's job at risk.
