Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson has reflected on his first professional hat-trick for the Blues, stating he is happy to hit the milestone while playing for 'the biggest club in England'.
Jackson scored three goals in the space of 22 minutes to help Mauricio Pochettino's beat Tottenham 4-1 in a chaotic night that saw fives goals disallowed, two red cards awarded and a penalty granted.
Not only did Jackson help Chelsea beat Tottenham, he also made history in the process. The 22-year-old became the first player to score a hat-trick against Tottenham in the Premier League since Hasselbaink in 2002.
Jackson also pulled out three different celebrations on Monday evening. He was seen blowing kisses to the Tottenham fans after the first goal, replicating Marcus Rashford's celebration after the second and pulling out Cristiano Ronaldo's 'SIU' afer the third.
Jackson said he was delighted to help Chelsea claim all three points but insisted he needed to 'improve and work harder' to help the Blues succeed after their 'difficult' start to the season.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Jackson said: 'I am very happy and it has been a difficult time for everybody in the team.
'We are coming back really slowly and happy to have scored three goals. It's my first hat-trick, so I am happy to have done it with the biggest club in England and everywhere.
'I need to always improve and work harder. We continue working. Tottenham have an amazing stadium and amazing fans, so we needed to fight and win the game.'
'It was really difficult as they continued to maintain their line. We have quality players to give us the ball and we won. We were dreaming about winning the big games and the confidence within the team is coming really slowly.'
Jackson had come under fire in recent weeks following a string of underwhelming performances for the Blues.
The Senegalese striker joined Chelsea for £32million from Villarreal in the summer but has struggled to adapt to life at Stamford Bridge.
The 22-year-old had netted just two Premier League goals in nine appearances before Chelsea's game against Tottenham.
This prompted criticism from Alan Shearer on Match of the Day, who had claimed Jackson was not a 'natural goalscorer' and said it 'looks as if he needs a lot of help in that position'.
However, Mauricio Pochettino threw his support behind Jackson and suggested Shearer's criticism was unwarranted.
Jackson will be hoping his hat-trick will silence the critics. While Cole Palmer is confident the 22-year-old will grow in confidence after Monday's performance.
Speaking after the game, Palmer said: 'It's been a difficult start for him, no hiding it, but he was brilliant tonight. He just needs to keep his head down and work harder in training and he will get more hat-tricks.
'It's easier playing against nine men but we knew we had to win the game when it went down to 10 and when it went down to nine especially we knew we needed to score, keep pressing and making the runs in behind because the line was so high.'

I tell you bro… the Bro needs to be given time, but as well we need a proven goal scorer too, to atleast relieve pressure off his shoulders and allow him to shine, also someone for him to learn from too.. Look at this👇👇 For all of his faults, Jackson has been routinely getting into good goalscoring positions this season. If anything, five goals are the least he deserves after amassing chances worth 7.0 xG (per FBref). Only Manchester City's Erling Haaland (8.3) can boast a higher figure across the entire Premier League in one of the most important statistics for a striker (behind actual goals).
A proven goalpoacher would be scoring the amount of goals Haaland currently has or more given the chances created for him… This suggests that Jackson’s performance, in terms of the quality of chances he’s had, should have resulted in more goals than he has actually scored. The comparison to Haaland indicates that a proven goal poacher, like Haaland, would typically convert a higher percentage of these chances into goals. In essence, it implies that Jackson might not be as efficient at converting his goal-scoring opportunities compared to a top-tier striker like Haaland. So in a Nutshell a lot of chances are been created that we need someone to put the ball in so… don’t be suprised Jackson has 5 goals now, he should have way more if he was Clinical enough like Haaland, but time will only make him better…

🚨🚨 Jackson now has as many PL hat-tricks as Dennis Bergkamp and Eric Cantona (PL History) Nicolas Jackson now has as many PL goals this season as Ollie Watkins and Evan Ferguson (EPL )
