Jamie Carragher and Rio Ferdinand have been involved in a Twitter spat over comments on Cristiano Ronaldo.
Carragher tweeted on Monday morning about Erik ten Hag's decision not to play the forward in the Manchester derby, saying that claims the Dutchman got it wrong leaving him out are 'laughable'.
Ferdinand responded, asking if Carragher was still annoyed Ronaldo didn't shake his hand at recently at Old Trafford during a Sky broadcast, before Carragher replied calling Ferdinand a 'fan boy' of Ronaldo.
Carragher originally claimed that 'Rashford's pace on the counter attack' was 'the way to go' in the game, referencing United's 4-0 defeat by Brentford earlier in the season, in which Ronaldo played.
Ferdinand responded: 'Carra you still upset he didn't shake ur [sic] hand at Old Trafford? The hardest thing to do in football is score goals…' accompanied by a video of the former United defender defending his former team-mate.
In the clip, taken from Ferdinand's FIVE show, the 43-year-old said: 'You can't have your top goalscorer, who gets 20 or 25 goals a season, on the bench. I'm sorry.
'People keep talking about it. Why are we so concerned with what people don't do all the time? What's he good at?
'The hardest thing to do in football is score goals, and this guy does that just as good, if not better than anybody.'
Carragher seemed to take offence to the comment, snapping at Ferdinand and accusing him of sucking up to the forward.
'No I'm delighted it went viral!' said Carragher in response to Ferdinand's comment about shaking Ronaldo's hand.
'Rio I know how it works, he's your mate & you/Evra & the rest are on the group WhatsApp & he asks you to come out & defend him.
'Don't be his fan boy you're Rio Ferdinand for FFS!!'
Ferdinand then replied: 'What WhatsApp group?! Leave off lad…I want this same energy with Roy Keane when ya [sic] next in the studio ffs. Stop getting bullied.'
Despite the Twitter spat, Carragher did end on a playful note about Ferdinand as Sky's coverage of Leicester City's 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest concluded on Sky Sports.
Working as a pundit alongside Gary Neville and presenter Dave Jones, they looked ahead to next week's Monday Night Football show - which includes Roy Keane as a special guest.
'We’ve got two of your mates on next week,' Neville quipped.
'Have we got Roy Keane on?' asked Carragher, to which Jones replied: 'With a bit of luck!'
As the banter continued, Neville - who played alongside Ferdinand and Keane at United said - 'You’ll get bullied again!' to Carragher.
Not lying down, the Liverpool legend teased Neville by replying: He wants to get in that Whatsapp group Rio!
As the duo and Jones laughed, Neville finished with: 'Oh yeah, can you add me to the Whatsapp group please Rio!?'

Nope! Cara was right they are his fan boys. Rio didn't criticise Cristiano the way he did to other players when they did wrong. He didn't criticise him by not applauding United fans on away duties or when he smashed young boy's phone last season. This season he refused to report for preseasons and send request he wants to leave. All these disrespect acts are not seen by Rio. He can criticise anybody but not Cristiano. It is a SHAME! Of course, Rio is Cristiano's fan boy not a pundit.
well let rio be cr7 fanboy but remember carra is an anti cr7 fan 😂😂😂

Lol i love ferdinand. He simply respects ronaldo. And the other guy is making a fool of himself. Let him tackle salah too. At least salah is also not playing very good. With enough game time given to him.
