Jamie Carragher has expressed doubts about Andy Robertson's ability to perform at left-back for Liverpool, urging manager Arne Slot to prioritise signing a new defender in the January transfer window.
The Scotland international, 30, earned his 20th start of the season across all competitions during Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
However, Carragher has raised concerns over Robertson's form, despite acknowledging his contributions as a 'legend' of the club, claiming the defender is 'hanging on in every game'.
Speaking after the game, Carragher said: 'This manager's style is slightly different to Klopp's. It's not as gung-ho. Liverpool have a lot more goals in the team than Arsenal have.'
He went on to add: 'Liverpool still concede goals. Liverpool need to sign a full-back in January. I think at left-back. Robertson is an absolute legend, he's just hanging on in every game now.'
Roy Keane shares a similar perspective as Carragher. Ahead of the match, the former Manchester United captain highlighted Robertson as a potential weak link in Liverpool's lineup.
'The one player I would look at Liverpool and I have question marks over in the last year or two is Robertson,' said Keane on Sky Sports. 'I do think if you've got a chance to run at him, you make the most of that.'
Manchester United, who had been under scrutiny for their poor form this season, produced a spirited display against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
Lisandro Martinez opened the scoring after pouncing on a defensive error by Liverpool, only for the hosts to respond with a goal from Cody Gakpo and a penalty by Mohamed Salah.
Substitute Amad Diallo's late equaliser salvaged a point for United in what was one of their best performances of the campaign. However, Harry Maguire was guilty of missing a sitter in the final moment of the game.
The draw leaves Manchester United languishing in 14th place, a staggering 23 points behind league leaders Liverpool. Amorim has faced mounting pressure, but this spirited display offers some hope ahead of their FA Cup clash with Arsenal.

Trent was not himself and the technical bench is to blame. They should have removed him for Quansah if they felt Cornor wasn't ready as he is just coming back and I felt the game was too early for Konate when we have Quansah

After the match l would certainly allow Trent to leave if his heart is no longer with us.. That performance was shocking to say the least. I agree Bradley is there to cover for right back while a new signing to cover for Robertson whose performance is not improving at all and has been at fault in as many games

Another weak link is at right back because TAA is not good at defending. Both goals from Man Utd started from RB
