Jamie Carragher hails Liverpool's new signing Alexis Mac Allister as a 'super talent'

Jamie Carragher believes Alexis Mac Allister is a 'super talent', but expects Liverpool to sign at least three more players in addition to their latest signing.

Mac Allister's signing from Brighton was confirmed earlier this week, with the new addition wearing the No 10 shirt after joining Liverpool from Roberto De Zerbi's Brighton for £35m.

But Liverpool's attentions will now turn to other transfer targets, and Liverpool legend Carragher believes that there will be plenty of other new faces in addition to Mac Allister at Anfield next season.

On Mac Allister, Carragher told Sky Sports News: 'He's certainly a good player. Whether he ends up as a good signing, we'll see when the season starts. It looks like he can play every position in midfield, which will help Liverpool. He looks a super talent.'

He also said that other top stars who shone at Brighton have not delivered those same results for other teams, alluding to stars like Marc Cucurella at Chelsea and Leandro Trossard at Arsenal.

'Brighton are a brilliant team,' Carragher said. 'The players who have come out of Brighton haven't replicated the Brighton form in other teams. Is that because they're part of a special system at Brighton? De Zerbi's been fantastic this season. That will be interesting to see.

'But I think it's a great signing, considering the price. £35m is a steal for a World Cup winner with Premier League experience who's only 24.'

When pressed on Liverpool's other requirements in the transfer window, Carragher said: 'They need another midfield player at least, I think Liverpool will probably get another two midfield players. I think they'll need a defender as well. Whether that's a centre-back or a full-back remains to be seen.

'There's talk whether Liverpool will keep the system they finished the season with, I think that's really interesting. But I think they'll get another three players in, defender and two midfield players.'

Liverpool finished in fifth place this season, having been pushing Manchester City in the top two places of the Premier League for several campaigns before this one.
