Jamie Carragher believes Arne Slot will remain as Liverpool manager next season if the club secures Champions League qualification, with Liverpool currently seven points clear of Chelsea in the race for fifth place
Jamie Carragher believes that Arne Slot will remain at Liverpool provided they secure Champions League qualification for next season. The Reds currently sit seven points ahead of Chelsea in fifth place, the final spot for next season's competition.
Victory over Everton in the inaugural Merseyside Derby at Hill Dickinson Stadium saw them stretch their cushion over the Blues following Manchester United's win at Stamford Bridge. It also helped to further dampen the ongoing speculation surrounding Slot's position.
Back-to-back Premier League victories have shifted the momentum, as did the encouraging display at Anfield despite their 2-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Qualification for the Champions League for a third successive campaign now looks probable. That could safeguard Slot's position beyond this summer despite a deflating Premier League title defence following a stellar first season.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher said: "Arne Slot's job has been spoken about all season. We've spoken about it a lot on Monday Night Football.
"There's probably a split in the Liverpool supporters over whether he should stay or go. But the noises I am hearing is Slot will be the Liverpool manager next season if they can secure Champions League qualification, which they look like doing right now."

On the derby victory, Carragher added: "The result is absolutely huge for Liverpool when you consider the Chelsea result yesterday."
The Reds now require nine more points from their remaining five Premier League fixtures to secure a top-five finish, regardless of what Chelsea or any other side below them manage to achieve. They are next in action when they welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield before making the trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.
Chelsea then make their way to Anfield in a fixture that could prove decisive in determining who clinches fifth place. Aston Villa are the penultimate opponents of the campaign, before Brentford visit Merseyside on the final day.
Carragher further commented after the derby: "When that board went up for 11 minutes, I'd have shook [hands] with anyone and taken a point from a Liverpool point of view. With the situation with the goalkeeper, Everton were a little bit more threatening. Liverpool were a small team towards the end of that game, and I was fearful of set-pieces.
"When you think of how Liverpool have won this game - two of the absolute legends of the club have done it, they won't be here much longer, Salah and probably Van Dijk in 12 months' time.
"Two of the absolute greats. Salah has done it again against Liverpool's biggest rivals, as he always does. Against Everton or Man Utd, you can always rely upon him."

Enough is enough i think, Liverpool already followed his order by breaking their transfer policy and slot failed to win trophies after that huge spending.

I think they are phishing information. By putting this public, they will get an overall feeling of the fans. And they will decide accordingly. For me personally, he should be sacked but with those two clowns, Michael Edward’s and Richard Hughes. They both want slot to remain in position only to save their reputation coz the price they paid for some under average players is stunning. So they will do their best for slot to remain in position. Hope the spirit of Shankly put pressure.

Jamie Carragher believes Arne Slot will remain as Liverpool manager next season if the club secures Champions League qualification, if that is the case I hope we will lose all the remaining matches so that they will sack the idiot.

Slot is not a bad coach, but injuries made him not to have a regular starting 11, and the backline is not as strong as it was last season. No good backups, today Zobo will play as a defender, tomorrow Jones will play there. It will surely have negative effects on the team. In my own opinion, I think it's too harsh to blame SLOT.

Shame if he stays.... most useless coach in history of LFC. He was a shadow of Klopp's team last year.
