Not to be outdone by his England team-mate Dele Alli, Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard has attempted to start his own celebration craze to follow the lead of the Tottenham star.
Lingard, an avid user of Instagram, challenged his followers to replicate what could become a regular sight at Old Trafford this season. His twisted hand movement, dubbed the 'JLingzChallenge', appears to be an elaborated version of his trademark goal celebration.
It follows a craze started by Alli, whose own celebration has caused bafflement among fans for its apparent ease but devilish complexity. Indeed, even his own team-mate Georges-Kevin N'Koudou couldn't figure out exactly how to do it.
Where N'Koudou failed, however, it appears reality TV stars are succeeding. X Factor contestants Olly Murs and Sam Bailey, who won the competition in 2013, both shared their successful attempts to copy Alli's celebration.
The player himself also executed a perfect version of the contorted hand movement, which Alli debuted after scoring what would turn out to be the winning goal against Newcastle United on Saturday.
Lingard, 25, may have helped develop the new celebration alongside Alli during England's extended stay at the World Cup this summer but has now moved onto bigger and brighter things with his own developments.
Manchester United fans will have to wait until the midfielder scores before knowing if he intends to use it on matchday. His next chance to do so will be against Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday, where United will be looking to build on their 2-1 win over Leicester City and maintain a 100 per cent record.
Lingard is likely to be an important player for Jose Mourinho this season and he will be hoping to build on what was a very successful World Cup both personally and for the entire England squad.
The United youth product scored one of the goals of the tournament against Panama in the group stages and played the full 90 minutes in all of their knockout matches as he won the favour of Gareth Southgate.

I think that a forward who averages less than a goal every seven games would have better things to do than acting like a ten year old.
