Gabriel Jesus and everyone else on the field thought he had put Manchester City 3-0 up against West Ham until VAR intervened.
Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus has become the first Premier League player to have a goal ruled out by a VAR review.
But referee Mike Dean was informed Sterling's left shoulder was fractionally offside when he darted on to Silva's pass, leading to roars from the home crowd and disbelief among the City players.
City were infamously denied in similar circumstances against Tottenham during last season's Champions League quarter-finals – Sterling thinking he had won the tie deep into stoppage time at the Etihad Stadium before replays showed Sergio Agüero's heel was just offside during the build-up.

As much as i think VAR is great because it means we're gonna remove all offsides going forward, is there such a thing as too close to call? I suppose if we're going by the book, at least everything will be just as strict.

Surely the offside rule was introduced to stop goal hanging, not to penalise a player for being millimetres past the last defender.
