Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes Tammy Abraham must 'do better' to cement his place in Frank Lampard's starting XI.
Abraham has made just 14 appearances across all competitions following the arrival of Timo Werner and failed to prove his worth against Tottenham on Sunday.
Hasselbaink criticised Abraham for his inability to convert or Chelsea in their 0-0 draw against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge.
He insists Abraham must use his 'stature' and 'ability' to score 'important goals' in order to secure his place as Chelsea's No 9.
Speaking after the game, Hasselbaink said: 'He has to improve in those moments. He did ever so well when he came in last season, for half of the season he was a breath of fresh air.
'Second-half he had it difficult but that's normal because he's a young boy.
'But second season he has to step up and at times he can do better.
'With his stature, with his ability, he can do better and score more important goals.
'Sometimes I wonder does he watch clips of himself after the game because certain times his movement can be better, his holding off can be better.
'He needs to keep on improving.'

Giroud could have taken those chances with so much ease unlike our beloved Abraham 🤦🏾♂️

I think giroud should have given atleast 30mins against spurs as we need his body and heading ability to score goals against Jose's side who only defends. don't get me wrong, tammy has proven himself to start ahead of giroud but yesterday, he really didn't look like he will score as he have never been good with heading which we needed in spurs game. I don't know why giroud is not getting enough time and ziyech also didn't look himself from start of the game. Mount was the best player in yesterday's game and our defence looked solid as always though kante and mendy almost gave me a heart attack. anyways, not a bad result, still unbeaten against a team who is also in form. now, rest and prepare for sevilla and have to get a win if we want to be in first position in group stage of UCL. up chelsea!
