Joao Felix shines at El Sadar ahead of Manchester United clash

Joao Felix played his 100th game for Atletico Madrid on Saturday and will now get a plaque on Los Rojiblancos' Walk of Legends at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, but most importantly he has earned plaudits after his team's 3-0 win away at Osasuna.

Following a shocking 1-0 defeat at home to bottom-placed Levante in midweek, it took the Portuguese forward just three minutes to get his name on the scoresheet at El Sadar.

Joao Felix worked hard during the week to try and earn a spot in the starting line-up ahead of the Osasuna clash, and he managed to do so as Diego Simeone gave him the opportunity to begin the match alongside Luis Suarez up front.

This was his fourth goal this season, but Joao Felix also stood out for his work rate and attitude on the pitch during the match at Osasuna, against whom he had scored twice in the last two visits.

The 22-year-old didn't hide and looked lively from the off, helping Atletico to create danger in front of their opponents' goal.

It was Joao Felix who led Atletico's counter-attack and teed up Suarez, who doubled the lead for the visitors, after making the most of his teammate's precise long pass.

Joao Felix had not played the full 90 minutes since Atletico's game against Real Betis back in October and this seems to be the perfect moment for him to attempt to rediscover his form, as Atleti host Manchester United in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday night.
