Jonathan David is a transfer target for Real Madrid

Years of prudence with regards to their transfer policy has seen Real Madrid avoid a financial calamity like the one which has enveloped Barcelona of late and, with attention turning to future transfer windows, Los Blancos are interested in Jonathan David.

The Canadian has scored 13 goals in Ligue 1 this term, leading the goalscoring charts ahead of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.

He is on the radar of clubs in the Premier League, Bundesliga and Serie A, however Los Blancos' interest is the most significant.

According to information from MARCA and the international press, Carlo Ancelotti is keen to reinforce his squad for the 2022/23 season and the 21-year-old is seen as a promising talent.

Nick Mavromaras, David's agent, has confirmed that this season will be the last the goalscorer spends in Ligue 1.

"For us, the goal is to finish the season with Lille, but it will be his last season there for various reasons," Mavromaras added in an interview with So Soccer.

"I think the Premier League is a great option for him.

"I think he also likes Spain a lot, because he likes the feeling of the ball. He's a very technical player."

One possible helpful factor to a potential deal is the situation regarding Eden Hazard, with Lille keen to bring him back to his former club. There is a suggestion that the Belgian could be included in a move for the younger forward.
